NOTD: SOPI Just a Little Dangerous

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Who wore vampy nail polish on the first day of 2013? Me :)

We spent the day inside unpacking and cleaning the apartment, so glamourous. For a mani for back to work, I went and picked Sephora by OPI Just a Little Dangerous from the Tinsel Town Collectors set.

Just a Little Dangerous is a vampy dark purple. I was hoping for a one coater, but it wasn't. It reached full opacity after two coats, though not very glossy, so I added top coat.

The accent nail is I Don't Bite with Just a Little Dangerous dots. I Don't Bite (sounds like it was from a vampire movie, lol) is a metallic lavender, takes two or three coats to look awesome. You can definitely wear it sheer too. And it seems to wear better than Just a Little Dangerous.

I can't remember I had come across a shade like this with metallic finish, so I would say it is quite unique in my book. I want to do a full mani with I Don't Bite later on.

At this point, I would say the Tinsel Town Collectors set is quite worth the investment. It was on sale during Boxing Week too but I can't seem to find it on Sephora anymore. Check your store though.

How's everyone doing the first day back to work after the holidays? I'm still in the fog (it has been a few days with this bad jet lag). And to make it worse, the temp decided to drop to -25 windchill today. Fabulous huh?

We'll get through this, won't we? :)

NOTD: SOPI I Think I Cayenne

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Am I cute or am I cute today? Lol, it's cheesy but I kinda like it! This is Sephora by OPI I Think I Cayenne from the Tinsel Town Collectors set. I like it a lot more on the nails than in the bottle, and it is even crazier in the sun.

This is one coat! If you want more shimmers, add another coat.

The dots are from the neighbours in the palette - Sephora by OPI Read My Balm, A True Romantic and S-Age is Just a Number. I chose to do subtle dots by not dipping the dotting tools in a lot of nail polish.

All colours wore really well, minimal tip wear at the end of day two.

This is in the shade with the sun rays hanging around very near to my hands, which explains the glow of the gold and orange shimmers near the top of the pic.

I Think I Cayenne calms down without the sun, don't you think (pun intended). This is how it appears most of the time, but if you are in the sun, maybe give a little warning to people you are with to put on sunglasses lol.

Still a pretty orange, with all the crazy colours around (on top of) it, sun or no sun. Not what I would typically pick for myself by the look in the bottle, but I was surprised by it.

Moving a little further into complete shade, the shimmers are visible here and there, just not full blown. Almost as fun as a colour-changing nail polish - more subtle indoor and fiercely bright outdoor.

Anyway, I think I Cayenne was a surprise, I enjoyed it more than I thought. I am more excited to get to other colours in the set now, hoping for more surprises.

Day 3 of the vacation, I'm wearing a funky mani, will probably post it soon. Short report: I ate every two hours here, since Mom was so eager to feed me lol

NOTD: SOPI S-age Is just a Number

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It's c c c ... cold today. Am I glad I'm taking off to somewhere warm soon? Definitely!

Slowly testing the Sephora by OPI Tinsel Town Collctors Set, I couldn't help but pulling out S-age Is just a Number, for its popular similarity to a famous (and very dupable) colour among nail polish brands :)

I can get away with just one coat of S-age Is just a Number, but I did two to strengthen its duochrome effect.

On my accent nail is Sephora by OPI Already Famous, a sheer champagne shade with the pink/ silver shimmers. I did three coats here and there was still VNL. This shade would be totally awesome on top of a rose gold or a dark shade to bring out its shimmers even more.

About lasting power, I found it very interesting that Already Famous flaked off in the middle of the fingers on day two, while the tips were still perfect. I'm not sure the base coat is to blame, but this might be one more reason I would not wear this shade alone.

On the opposite side, S-age Is just a Number wore perfectly until I removed it at the end of day three. It was a little hard to remove it to move on to the next mani, and I am not normally very attached to my nail polish after a few days of wear lol. This is a great shade to have, if you haven't owned the other dupes :)

A blurry pic, on purpose. You gotta click to enlarge to see all the crazy shimmers, it's worth it.

So did everyone all shop out over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales? I'm happy to see Canada join in the craziness, cause that means more deals for me. Extended mall hours is great too. We're talking about Halifax where Sunday shopping was not even possible until 2006 lol. I'll be happily with my family over the holiday, but will miss more sales, so I'm counting on you to tell me all about those :)

SOPI Tinsel Town Collectors Set

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

There is a Holiday Blockbuster collection called Sephora by OPI Tinsel Town Collectors Set that could make a nail polish fanatic go "ohhhh"...

The set has 16 mini bottles (0.125oz/ 3.75ml) of Sephora by OPI’s best selling colours, plus a full-size Only Gold For Me top coat (0.5oz/ 15ml), retails CAD59 at Sephora.

I'm not normally for minis but these are great for travelling, and the gold top coat is just the perfect icing on the cake.

The shade names are printed on the box, below each shade, but not on the bottles themselves, so I will keep them in the packaging to keep track of names.

Please follow along as I swatch the shades (first two below). I'll keep the master list and add the direct links to the names for easy reference as well.

First row, from L-R:
- I'm Wired (opaque electric coral red)
- Already Famous (sheer pewter with medium champagne and silver glitter)
- A True Romantic (sheer cool light pink)
- What Aura Gonna Wear? (opaque hot pink)
- And a Cherry On Top (opaque vivid maraschino)
- S-Age Is Just A Number (opaque chrome gold with two tone effect)
- I Think I Cayenne (opaque metallic red-orange), and
- Read My Palm (opaque light jade green).

Second row:
- Justa' Pinch of Glitter (opaque charcoal fine glitter with chunky silver glitter) - see below
- Just a Little Dangerous (opaque metallic amethyst)
- I Don't Bite (opaque soft purple with fine holographic glitter)
- Thyme For a Mani (opaque light khaki)
- Meet Me At the Disco (clear with medium silver and iridescent glitter)
- Leotard Optional (opaque mocha beige)
- Merry Me (opaque red with micro red glitter), and
- Break a Leg Warmer! (opaque charcoal gray) - see below.

To get the ball rolling, I'll start with two shades first :)

The base colour is Break a Leg Warmer!. Gotta give the cute name some credit here, I smiled when I saw it :) As described above, it is a charcoal gray and a one coater. I was impressed with the pigmentation.

Even though the small bottle (only quarter a size of a full sized one) and small brush require extra work and time to cover all nails, but I wouldn't mind doing it when the colour is opaque in one coat.

The mini bottle is kinda cute, but when you find a good shade, you start worrying that it would run out too quickly lol.

The glitter top coat (on my middle finger and pinky) is Justa' Pinch of Glitter. I couldn't help pairing it with Break a Leg Warmer! because of the same charcoal base they both have.

The silver glitters definitely stand out on this base colour. After one coat of the top coat, it still feels a little grainy, so double up the top coat if that bothers you. I didn't.

It is interesting that Sephora by OPI included a grey colour in this holiday set, as it is not as bright and fun as others. But I do think it would pair well with your festive outfits, and can be jazzed up with a glitter like I did here.

Stay tuned for more swatches of other colours in the set, especially the gold top coat :)
