Happy belated V-Day

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I'm back! If feels like forever since I updated the blog. I was stuck at home since Sunday as Squirt was sick and I wasn't feeling that great either. Last night she was a bit better, so I went putting on makeup so we can go out to dinner, but then she didn't want to leave, felt a bit dizzy still.

So there I was cooking a storm in the kitchen with full makeup on, lol. At least I looked good doing chores, right?

How was your "Single Awareness Day"? Me and the bf took the day harder than I imagined, this is the first V-Day we have been away from each other. It's certainly nice if you can celebrate it with someone special. I know there's certainly nothing wrong with being in love with yourself and your life and I kept telling myself that to survive V-Day talks everywhere I looked.
I found these 2 pics from icanhascheezburger.com, thought they were appropriate for the occasion.

As my V-Day sucked, I guess I'll be talking about cats instead, lol. But feel free to fill me in what you did yesterday, the fun you had with your Valentine(s) whoever that is, or what you treated yourself with, etc. I did 3 little hauls online last week, 2 had come and the other one was sent to the bf's address, so I can post them up if you want to see.

Alright, back to the cats. Do you think they are siblings? Or can they be so close to each other after living together for a while? I posted here before a pic of my cats when they were younger (taken by the previous owner), but here it is again, to make my point.

Reece is on the left and Oreo on the right. They sure drive each other nuts but are very sweet to each other at the same time, being brothers. Reece loves sleeping up high on the cat tower near the balcony door, and Oreo likes to sleep in random boxes or on top of a pile of clothes. And during the day. At night they roam the apartment lol.

I don't know why but to me, they aren't very cuddly. They might stop by for a head scratch or something but don't stay and hang out with me. They do keep me company with their presence but from a distance. Guess they weren't interested being my Valentines lol.

With Squirt being sick, I missed The Bay coupon and Shoppers redemption. Oh well, maybe that'd do good to my wallet. Hope your week is going well. I can only hope the same for mine :)

Halloween!

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Hi everyone! I'm by myself tonight as Squirt is sleeping over at her babysitter's. She is invited to the Halloween party there tomorrow and stays there tonight to help with decorating :)

It was quite warm a few nights back but is -1 with wind chill tonight. I'm afraid the kids will have to wear big coats over their costumes, which sucks.

Anyway, my way to celebrate Halloween would be wearing China Glaze Fortune Teller. It is such an awesome colour for the occasion, I couldn't help it bringing it out again. And as expected, I still love it like the first time I applied it on my nails :)

First coat was sheer but it looks a lot better after the second coat. If you want it to be extra vampy or want to pack up some more glitters, a third coat would be fine, just with a light hand to avoid a clumpy mess.

I love it when the light hits it, and love it when it appears black under low light too. Couldn't ask for more. I was thinking doing the half glossy, half matte look but couldn't bring myself to mattify its glory, lol. I know a matte Fortune Teller looks good too, but I just don't want to do it tonight.

You can click to enlarge the pics, for more black and orange goodness :)

On to more fun Halloween stuff.
This is my little princess this year. We found this costume at the Disney Store a few weeks back and she all of a sudden wanted to be Cinderella this Halloween. So Cinderella it is!

She is determined to have her hair pulled back in a bun, which makes her look a lot more mature than she is. A few friends asked me how she became go grown-up so fast :) I think it might be the hair, or it might as well be the royal attitude of being a princess does the work. Do you think she looks older than she is?

This picture was taken last night at her school's Halloween party. They turned down the light in the hallway, so she looked darker, even with flash. She had a blast decorating cookies and a pumpkin, dancing around with her best friend and threw a few darts. How I wish I could be young like that again. Where I came from, we don't have Halloween, so no dressing up for me. Squirt has all the fun in the world, maybe for my part too, lol.

We went to a Halloween cat show this afternoon after Squirt's skating lesson (that's something I didn't get to do when I was her age too).

The ad said the cats would be dressed up, but it turned out only the owners did, lol. I guess the cats were competing for prizes, so the costumes would get in the way.

Does any of you know what creature is in the picture on the left? Well I kinda gave it away by saying we went to a cat show, but I never saw a cat with prints like that, ever. That... is a Bengal cat, one of the most beautiful cats I have seen in my life!

I mean I have heard of Bengal tigers, but not Bengal cats, now I know. Anyway, it is a whole new world to me, now that I know such cats exist :)

This is another one with beautiful marking and colour. The base colour is not really brown, not really pink, not really orange. I missed it when they explained about his breed and stuff, so I don't know what he is. Managed a close-up shot of him when he was returned to the cage after competition. He has the most beautiful turquoise eyes too. My love with cats was just multiplied ten fold after the show.

So that's basically what we did for the weekend so far. I don't know I'd be posting tomorrow night, so have a great Halloween ladies!

The Blizzard Cats

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

If you saw my tweet last week, you had already known we had 2 new members of the family.

I finally found Squirt not one but two cats. And now that I have a chance to snap a few pictures of them, I'd love you all to meet them.

This picture is from the previous owner, taken when they were younger. How sweet are they? They made an upside down heart, do you see? They are brothers and are close to each other, so I adopted them both instead of just one (as originally planned). I know 2 cats mean more responsibility and work, but I couldn't bring myself to separate them, just by looking at this picture.

The black and white one is Oreo and the grey tabby is Reece. If you are a fan of Dairy Queen's blizzards, you can guess where their names come from, lol.

As you see in the pictures below, the cats love to sit on the windowsills or the balcony doorstep looking outside. They could be there for hours, being curious about what's going on outside, and they almost do everything together. I don't feel as bad leaving them at home together, and they have quite a few toys to play with.

Oreo and Reece have been adjusting to the new place quite well. They walked around checking things out, didn't want to come near us for the first few hours, but then they had to come out for food lol. The first few nights, they slept under my bed. By the third day, they already rubbed their heads on our legs and welcomed belly/ head rub when lying down. That night they walked all over me in bed, trying to find a comfortable spot to sleep, lol. They didn't stay there long though. I still don't know whether they sleep through the night or just stay up playing.

The boys are a little chubby in the belly, being indoor cats and all. We are taking a "Kitty Care 101" class near the end of the month, hoping to learn more about how to keep them healthy :) Squirt are really excited to have 2 little friends to play with but she "volunteered" me to be in charge of the litter box, lol. Having the boys with us means earlier wake up time (so we can feed them and clean the litter box), but we are doing well so far with them.

I haven't mentioned on the blog, but the bf is packing up to move to the US for school, so Squirt and I will be on our own. It is going to be hard, but I hope the cats would keep the fun going in the family and keep us company when we are sad.

If you guys have cats, please share your advice in taking care of them. We want to be good cat owners :) Have a great day!

Animals are cute!

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Hi everyone, I'm still at home with my sprained ankle. Have a few things to blog out but didn't feel like getting on blogger yesterday. I haven't been outside since Sunday night, and it starts getting to me.

Anyway, I didn't have a V-Day post as nothing happened around here, but it's a blessing for those who had a wonderful celebration. Even the cats do, so why can't we, right?

The one on the right looks like Raffy, a potential candidate that we might adopt. I like Raffy because he's very cuddly when I held him at the animal shelter. But Squirt likes a more playful kitten called Diamond, a pure black cat. If we could afford two, they might be good friends growing up together :-)

And to end this random post, I have this Smiling Dog video. Hope it'll bring a smile to your face as it did for me.

Have a good day guys, I'll be back to regular posting soon.

The Chihuahua

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

This is the centre of our universe here at my parents', lol. Squirt used to be it whenever we came home for vacation, until 7 months ago when my parents adopted this little girl.

We used to have several cats in the house when I was young but haven't had any pets for such a long time. My cousin brought Bo home one day, testing the water with my parents to see whether she would have a chance to stay. After a few days, my parents fell in love with her and she obviously stayed to be the boss of the house, lol.

Squirt had never had a close contact with a pet (we are still looking for a cat for her), so she had a great time playing with Bo. She still needes to learn how to be gentle with Bo, as she is so tiny. Bo got mad and growled at Squirt sometimes when she didn't like the way Squirt handled her. It was funny :-)

I don't know about you, but to me, this little chihuahua is very smart. I usually give her a rub on her back or head, neck, and she loves that. So she usually picks my lap if a few of us sitting on the couch watching tv. She's too small to jump on the couch herself, so she reachs up and scratches my knee, then turns her back to me ready to be picked up. It is so cute.

Here she is checking out the bubble tea, just for size comparison :-)

I was a bit concerned before about getting a pet, worrying that we wouldn't have time to take care of it. But now, seeing how fun Bo is to the whole family, I guess we would be looking harder to find Squirt a cat to be friend with. I miss my childhood when I had like 3 cats to play with, and they were all very cute and playful. Oh good time!

Have a good night everyone!
