Vasanti Ultra Luxe & Matte lipsticks

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I mentioned before that Lawtons will no longer carry Vasanti very soon and is clearing out all stock at 50%.

No new products like the Love Brights gel matte lipsticks or the Lip & Cheek colour pods sadly, so I only went in for some basics.

I bought 3 Ultra Luxe lipsticks - Zimbabwe, Qatar and Denmark, and a Soft Finish matte lipstick in USA, reg. $15 each. Matte silver tubes, with colour coded boxes for each product line (sky blue for Ultra Luxe and indigo for Soft Finish matte).

Also grabbed a Kajal Extreme Intense eyeliner pencil in Electric Navy (reg. $18) but I won't include it in this post.

The Ultra Luxe lipsticks are formulated with Peptide technology to supposedly plump, hydrate and smooth the lips.

The Soft Finish matte lipsticks have anti oxidants for hydrating and light diffusing effects, only 3 shades available.

I don't notice any plumping effects, but the lips feel hydrated with these lipsticks. Great pigmentation and finishes. I recommend checking these out when you still can. The colour range can accommodate pretty much anyone.

Zimbabwe is a deep burgundy, my favorite colour among the 4. Ignore the glossy finish and the darken colour of the swatch. My tube turned very sticky, so I exchanged it. Check out the right colour in the FOTD to see it in action.

Qatar is a light mauve with a subtle grey sheen that is very hard to catch on camera.

Denmark, the hot magenta pink, and USA, the (matte) red, have made their names known among bloggers already. Must haves!

Did you check out the sale? What are your favorites from Vasanti?

LA Girl Glide gel liners

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It seems gel liner pencils are the new black these days, with their ease of application, soft texture and long lasting power.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Avon SuperShock gel eye liner pencils, so I thought I should check out LA Girl Glide gel liners when I found them on clearance at Lawtons.

Squirt helped me pick out a few colours, I didn't realize we did not chose a single light or nude shades lol.

Here are, from L-R: Black Magic, Black Amethyst, Paradise Purple, Gypsy Teal, Royal Blue and Aquatic.

Check out the swatches on my hand with only 2 swipes each.

Black Magic and Black Amethyst have subtle shimmers that are not that visible on the eyes. Black Amethyst has a light purple sheen while Black Magic has a matte base.

Paradise Purple has that blue purple duochrome look that I always enjoy.

Gypsy Teal has the best pigmentation among the 5 shimmer shades, just a tad more blue than Avon Super Shock in Aqua Pop, and Royal Blue is a medium sky blue, not as deep as Avon Cobalt.

Aquatic is the only matte shade in the bunch but it the prettiest one. I have got pretty obsessed using it on the lower lash line since I got it.

On the eyes, these Glide gel liners feel a little harder than the Avon Super Shocks (but do not pull or tug the eyes) and last equally as long.

I love both brands equally too, but LA Girls does have a wider range of colours (including mattes, 19 vs. 5 from Avon), plus lower price tag (reg. $3.99 at Lawtons or $5 on LA Girl website vs. $10 from Avon, same size 1.2g), so I have to say Glide gel liners win here :) Here is a FOTD so you can see the liners in action.

Give these a swatch if you ever come across them. Even if you are not a fan of bold colours, there are basic shades in the range too.

LA Girl Glazed lip paints

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

LA Girl Glazed lip paints have finally arrived at Lawtons!

I did tweet about this couple days ago when I found the display but if you missed it, here is the display.

I was relieved to see all 18 colours in the line, from both releases, so for once Canada is not missing out. Note that there are 5 tubes for each shade, $5.49 each.

Back row, from L-R: Babydoll, Hot Mess, Blushing, Bombshell, Pin-up, Coy, Whisper, Elude and Flirt.
I guess my fellow Haligonians love nude shades, as Blushing, Elude and Flirt already run low.

Front row: Whimsical, Tango, Peony, Feisty, Seduce, Gleam, Tease, Daring and Tempt.

I went with the season trend and stayed on the dark side with Daring and Coy.

I was happy to see the clear plastic seals that covered the cap and almost half way down the tube to prevent in-store testing. You can see them here if you look closely.

Bear in mind that these lip paints are said to be closer to OCC lip tars' dupes and not so much of Too Faced Melted lipsticks.

Let the testing fun begin! Did you grab any of these lip paints and what are your favorites?

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I am so sleep deprived today but won't complain as we had a really nice (but busy) weekend. I missed Super Redemption at Shoppers but did manage to grab a few things here and there.

Our local Marshalls opened on Thursday, I went check out the beauty section. It was not as big as I wanted but I still came home with a bunch of stuff I couldn't find at my Winners.

Start off with 2 UK skin care brands. Dirty Works had almost the whole facial skin care line on the shelf. I grabbed the Pore-fect facial Hot Cloth cleanser, $6.99 (reg. $12). The muslin cloth was included in the box too, very convenient.

I heard good things about Good Things products (see the pun? lol), so I picked up the Deep Clean Blackhead exfoliator with fruit extracts (Papaya & Licorice), $6.99 (reg. $12).

Originally decided to skip on this Good Things Manuka Honey creamy cleanser with Royal Jelly & Beewax, $5.99 (reg. $10) but I went back and got it after realizing how many UK bloggers raved about it.

Product selection from the brand is also quite extensive - masks, facial wipes, face creams, etc.

A little lonely on the side is Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in 08 Rose Studio, $8.99 (reg. $20). Most lipsticks in store were still untouched, considering it was the opening day, but I am scared for their fate as time goes on. No seals to protect them from swatchers in store.

Moving on to the higher-end skin care brand that I haven't tried anything from - Rodial.

There were about 5 different products from the brand on the shelf. I chose Glamtox cleansing balm, $24.99 (reg. $50) and Dragon's Blood cleansing water, $14.99 (reg. $36).

Not that I need more face cleanser/ makeup remover, but I couldn't help wondering if these rival the products I have and love in my stash. At a discount, the idea of testing them out seems to be better justified :)

A number of Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten baked cheek colors were there too. Can't say that I came across the brand before around here.

Most boxes were sealed so I had to shop blindly, in terms of colours. Came home with 3, don't know if I will keep them all, but for now, here are Boysenberry (the only "Sugar free" shade, i.e. matte), Golden Apricot and Berry, $14.99 each (reg. $31).

If you have any of these shades, please let me know how they are and if I should keep them. If you tried others, let me know your favorite shade too.

I did well at Lawtons too. It turned out to be a L'Oreal-extensive haul with the 40% off sale and a few products on clearance for half price (marked with a * below)

I got:
- Infallible Silkissime silky pencil eyeliner in Cobalt Blue, reg. $11.99
- Miss Manga mascaras in Indigo and Turquoise*, reg. $10.99 each
I heard the colours are not very visible on the lashes but still fun to have
- Glossy balms in Baby Berry and Pink Me Up*, reg. $11.99 each
- Pop balm in Wild Lily, reg. $10.99, and
- Color Riche Fixing & Unifying eyeshadow primer, $11.99
Primer in the pen form? Exciting!

I am playing catch-up with L'Oreal new products right now, you see?

Last but not least, the hard-to-find Sonia Kashuk (LE) 15-piece brush set at Target, $39.99.

Sonia Kashuk 15th Anniversary collection was supposed to hit Canadian Target stores a few weeks ago but it took me 3 trips to see the price tag up on the shelf. A SA found one for me from the back room.

Other hauls include a few Illmasqua blushes from the 25% off sale on The Bay, OCC lip tar sets from Sephora sale page and a Makeup Revolution order. What did you haul last weekend?

Lawtons haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Happy Monday! Thank you so much for all your amazing support of the giveaways. If you are one of my readers and haven't entered, please use the "Giveaways" tab at the top for quick access. You still have 10 more days to enter :)

On to my little haul at Lawtons! Physicians Formula is 40% off this week, with bonus 25 Airmiles when you buy 3.

What I got, from L-R:
- Glow Boosting BB bronzer in Light to Medium, reg. $19.98. The Glow Boosting bronzer is not new but this version has added BB benefits
- Nude Wear Glowing Nude powder in Light, reg. $19.98, with $9 rebate sticker on it
- Mineral Glow Pearls powder palette in Bronze Pearl , reg. $ 19.59 (for medium skin tone)
I was going for the youtube fav item here but don't know if I got the right one, couldn't remember lol.

A little bronze theme going on here eh? I didn't even notice until I took the pic :)

And a very exciting find that I don't want you to miss - Milani matte baked blushes are here!

I had no idea they have arrived, as they quietly made it to the wall shelf with the rest of Milani baked blushes.

Here are Delizioso Pink and Bella Rosa, looking crazily beautiful. What's even more exciting: they rung in only $6.39. Baked blushes were $9.99 regularly and Milani is 25% off this week. so I thought I would pay a little more for them. Not that I would complain lol.

I assume that they are permanent, but if you want them for $6, this week is the time :) Don't forget the "win cosmetic for a year" contest all month - you get 1 entry for each $25 you spend in store.

Boxing Week hauls

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

So we went out for our first shopping trip this Boxing week, I was glad the mall was not a mad house.

My regular Shoppers "shrine" did not disappoint with great clearance sale. Note that not all locations offer the same sales as I did go to more than 1 Shoppers to check.

The first lucky score was this Quo by Orly Holiday gel kit with lamp, half price, reg. $99, valued $115, with a cleanser, a primer, base + top coat, a gel nail colour in Burning Love and the LED lamp.

I have been curious about gel manis, was eyeing this set for a while, excited to find it on clearance. The other gel kit with the pink lamp was also on sale but it cost a bit more (reg. $110), if you want it.

And then, the big items from Quo Christmas 2013 collection, on half price:

- On the Go beauty set (lower left corner), reg. $60. It reminds me of the Tarte of Giving Collector's set - a travel makeup bag with an eyeshadow palette, lip products, etc.
- Master brush set (in the background), reg. $60 with powder brush, blush brush, foundation brush, concealer brush, lip brush, liner/ brow brush, crease blender brush, all over shadow brush, definer shadow brush and shadow smudger brush, plus a cute black/ gold bag
- Stained Glass beauty set (the larger round compact in the lower right corner) with 16 eyeshadows and 4 face powders, reg. $35
Back to Basic palette (up top), reg. $25. A giveaway might or might not in the work for this :)
- Deluxe bronzer (the smaller compact), reg. $20 with shimmery strips of colours running across
- Shimmer puff (upper right corner), reg. 20. I bought this as it was super cute with the gold metal bow on the lid, I didn't even know how it looked inside as it was sealed :)

If you haven't headed out to Shoppers yet, go today for x20 points with $50 purchase using this coupon.

At Lawtons, I got this Marcelle BB cream holiday gift set in Light to Medium, also for 50% off, reg. $49.95, valued $83.80. Comes with a black quilted bag, BB cleanser (200ml), BB cream-to-powder (7.5g), BB cream (45ml) and BB Roll-on concealer (2.8g).

There were other skin care holiday sets from Marcelle as well, if you need to stock up. These gift sets are always of good value to start with, now that they are on sale, it is the best time to grab them.

I couldn't make it to my favorite Lawtons location yet, so no report on nail polish on clearance, unfortunately.

Sally was doing extra 50% off clearance, and I had to renew my Sally card, so I went. Found a few Finger Paints shades for cheap.

The shades, from L-R: Sparkle top coat, Hue Brighten my Day, Enchanted Winter, Spell Binding and Sketch-y, $1.25 - $1.75 each after discount. The gel colours: Good Golly Miss Holly, New Year's Kiss, Splash of Bubbly and Snow Globe Shimmer, $3 each.

In the background is the free wallet clutch I got with purchase of 3 Finger Paints nail polish. The hot pink with black tone is hot!

From Sephora, I had ordered a few things online with the Sale-on-Sale code for some Sephora palettes and the Make Up For Ever Ultimate eyeliner collection (yes, that huge set with 7 Aqua Eyes, 3 Kohl liners and 4 Aqua liners, all full sized). Couldn't justify full price for these but when they showed up on the sale page and extra 20%, I grabbed them quick :)

From the store, I only got the Sephora 12hr wear waterproof contour eye pencil set for $13 - with Black Lace, Diamonds are Forever, Tiramisu and Sailor Suit, all full sized. I remembered seeing it on sale online more than this price and didn't get it then. Now seeing it in person with that holographic glow from the background, I wanted it :)

Clothing wise, I made my regular trip to La Senza to stock up on undies (10/$30) and sleepwear. Also found some cozy flannel and fleece PJs at Joe Fresh for $10 each and a legit hot pink Hello Kitty onesie (footie, to be exact) at Winners for $23 (down from $29.99, comparable at $60). Girls' PJs sold out a lot faster, so Squirt didn't find any but got some cute tops to make up for it.

Winners is also running a sale on active wear, many workout tops and capris were on sale for $22 or less, good style and colour selections at my location. I had a really hard time deciding which ones to leave behind.

The makeup section at Winners was not that exciting. Other than NARS, Clarins, Smashbox items and individual Real Techniques brushes I saw before, a few Anna Sui and Becca makeup pieces arrived. But anything that was not locked in plastic cases was swatched, I am upset every time!

I got a Sibu purifying mask ($12.99, comparable at $30) and hydrating serum ($12.99, comparable at $40), Sue Devitt Day & Night Neutrals eye, lip & cheek palette ($7.99, comparable at $25) and Nubar nail polish in Pink Dot and Sour Candy, $5.99 each, comparable at $8.

Have you found anything good lately?

Claire's had 10/$10, a few special effect and multi-layered nail polish were there. I got Pop Art and Graffiti (Splatter collection), and Surfs Up (4 layers, mango scented). I included a few other small things as an accent for the pic lol.

I still haven't got to the very first Forever 21 in town (opened during my time away), BBW and the Bay, etc. so the hauls aren't inclusive yet. Had a few online orders on the way, stuff for the house, nothing exciting.

Jetlag is still killing me, only the exciment of shopping keeps me awake a little, then I am not sleepy before midnight. Diet is also another thing that bothers me. I ate so well back home, great home cooked meals and street food, fresh fruits, sea food, etc. I gained a few pounds but it was worth it. It is tough to figure out what to cook now :)

Real Techniques brush sale

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It is the last few days of my vacation, I am just popping in to let you guys know about a good deal on Real Techniques brushes for Atlantic Canada.

By now, you all know about Real Techniques being available in Canada. The sets, to be exact!

Since my last review of the Eyes Starter kit, individual brushes have arrived at Lawtons in their full glory. I don't know if I yelled from the rooftop enough, so here is a little reminder for my Maritime readers that you now have those brushes at your fingertips. And even better is that Real Techniques is 30% off right now. No better time to stock up, but hurry as the flyer is only good until tomorrow, December 24.

Selections would include the famous Expert face brush (pictured), 2-in-1 kabuki brush, blush brush, shading brush, fine liner brush, etc. No makeup sponges at the moment yet, but we can hope :) Note that not all locations carry the brand, please check before heading out.

For readers from other parts of Canada, I spotted a few Real Techniques individual brushes at Winners for pretty good price ($7 - $9) a few weeks ago. You can grab them off Farleyco website too.

Have fun shopping and happy holidays! :)

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

The hauls are back :) I did a bit of shopping last week, have some new fun makeup for you today.

I was excited to find The Body Shop Colour Crush lipsticks. Quite a range of colours and finishes, some even have stain power.

I got 201 Red Hot Raspberry (pearlescent finish), 240 Damson in Distress (matte) and 301 Drive Me Nuts (sparkly), reg. $13. I included the numbers for easy reference, because the tubes only show the numbers, not the names. You have to refer to the receipt or online to get the names.

Pairing the B2G1F sale, a coupon and LYB discount, I paid less than $5 each. Not bad at all! The coupon at the bottom at the receipt is $15 off $40, good until the end of the month, FYI.

And if you like their Extra Virgin Mineral foundations, selected shades are being discontinued, cleared out for 3/$10.

I got the lightest shade in the discontinued range, 302 Golden Beige, in both cream and liquid form.

I added the Dazzling Rocks to get the deal, only shade 1 Golden Copper was available at my store. I forgot to take the lid of before taking the pic, but it's basically a mix of bronze and gold little rocks with shimmers, meant to be used on the face and body. Nice to have for that price.

This is a tiny little haul is from Lawtons, one of the rare occasions that I can run in quickly to check for new displays and sales. I don't live near a Lawtons anymore, you see?

Sinful Colors is on sale for $1.99, including the latest Leather Luxe collection. The only shade I wanted is Leather Loose, surprisingly was not sold out already.

Revlon lip products are 50% off this week. I went for a Super Lustrous gloss in Kiss Me Coral, only $4.74.

Superstore here had tax free on Saturday, I couldn't help grabbing a few things.

Maybelline Baby Lips were $3.97 each, I wanted Pink Shock and Berry Bomb from the Electro collection. Love the packaging.

Joe Fresh Fall 2013 nail polish are in, noticeable with the orange "New cap" stickers (not new shape, just new curvy ridges underneath the cap). They are 4/$10 until October 3 (reg. $4 each or 3/$10).

The 2 shades in the middle are duochrome-looking - Copper and Quartz. Not particularly unique but I wanted to try anyway.

The other 2 are Ultra Violet and Aqua. I also found Peacock with the same orange sticker, I'd assume they brought it back with the new cap because it was popular.

My local Shoppers Beauty Boutique carries Shiseido, so I redeemed some points in the Super Redemption event for a Perfect Rouge lipstick in RS320 Fuchsia, $30.

This shade has been talked about a lot on YT. I do like how creamy it was on my hand when swatched, and the colour (hot pink/ fuchsia) is definitely easy to sell, at least to me :)

Also got a Perfect Prep kit with the Refining primer and the Perfect foundation brush, $40 (valued $73). Can't say I tried any Shiseido makeup or brushes before, so I'm excited.

I had some Almay coupons and the Color + Care liquid lip balms were on sale for $6.99 at the time. I swatched them all, trying to find ones with better pigmentation (they are sheer). Ended up with Lilac Love and Apple a Day. One is purple (enough said) and one is red (more unique than the pinks and nudes).

Also wanted to check out the new Essence Stays No Matter What eyepencil & shadows. The line has 6 shades, and I heard good things. Went for Powerful Purple, $2.99. If they can get purple eyeshadows right, the other shades would be piece of cake. We'll see.

I went looking for the new Hard Candy nail polish at Walmart. Glad to see that they update the line. 9 new shades are a good reminder to attract us back to the display, don't you think?

The first two are Pop Rocker and Jaw Breaker from the Candy Sprinkles collection, $3.98 each. The other 2 new shades of this line (Sweet Tart and Candy Coated) are just the pale pink and blue versions of Jaw Breaker. The glitter combinations might be slightly different, but I don't think I need all 4.

The third polish I got is Emerald's Eve from the Crystal Confetti, quite glowy and fun.

Their Top Ten eyeshadow collections got mixed reviews but it seems Green with Envy is the best among the 5 colour options. For $5.98, I decided to try it out for myself. If you tried it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Anything you want to see a review on?

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

So July was done, I was so busy getting the apartment cleaned out to finish the lease, didn't get around drugstores very much until this (long) weekend.

At Lawtons, I found some 50% off red tags:
- Marcelle BB trial kit (reg. $16.95) in Medium to Dark with BB cleanser (30ml), BB cream (15ml) and BB cream to powder (4g). Also available in Light to Medium, selections vary by stores
I don't need any trial to this line but the minis are great for travelling, I wouldn't mind to stock up on these.

- Marcelle Jelly Cheek Flush blushes in Rosy Tint and Flushed Coral (reg. $16.95)
Was lucky to find a display that was not fully picked over. I heard good things about them, couldn't wait to test them out.

More red tags - Milani (LE) Shadow Eyez eyeshadow pencils in Black Ink, Espresso Line, Cafe au Lait, Almond Cream and Sand Dunes (reg. $8.99).

I was really excited to see the display at Lawtons a while back but tried to hold off on these. However, they are LE, with 4 neutral matte shades (the first 4 shades in the pic) and now are cleared out, I certainly didn't want to miss out.

Sand Dunes has metallic finish but is a versatile shade to wear all the time, so I grabbed it too. Passed on the darker bronze (metallic) shade called Golden Bronze.

Last week, Shoppers had L'Oreal Youth Code skin care for $19.99, including the new Texture Perfector line. I got the serum and Day/ Night cream with beautiful pink and silver packaging. The line is supposed to help with the look of pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone. Let's hope eh?

On the far left is the L'Oreal Colour Riche eyeshadow quad in Cupa Joe, on sale then for $8.99. All matte shades, being dupes of MAC eyeshadows (Wedge, Vanilla, Omega and Charcoal Brown), that's a small price to pay right?

At Winners, I was over the moon to find 2 cute bags on clearance - Steve Madden Bidoll $36 (comparable at $128) and MMS Design Studio circle studded satchel $20 (comparable at $70).

Also bought a cute pair of oven mitts with a "Born to shop, Forced to cook" print, so me lol.

From Claire's Splatter nail polish line, I got Flashing Lights and Paparazzi, reg. $8 (15ml), BOGO1/2 (i.e. $6 each when you buy 2). Considering the Hard Candy nail polish (7.8ml for $4), these are better bargains.

There are about 7-8 shades in the line, I'm hoping for more. Claire's also has about 3 shades in the Sand (texture) line, great to see them catching up with indie trends.

Note that 10 for $10 sale is on at Claire's (at least it was in the weekend), and there is a bonus buck promo - when you spend $20 now until August 24, you'll get a bonus buck card to get $10 off a purchase of $20 or more between August 25 - September 15.

And lastly, if you didn't see my tweet already, Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze collection has arrived at Lawtons. The eyeshadow trios are $3.99 each, and there are nail polish too.

Maska masks

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I have recently had a chance to try out some Maska masks. They are gel sheet masks, the new generation of facial masks, I would call them.

A quick run-down about Maska gel masks: a squishy, stretchy soft gel sheet, folded in a plastic case, submerged in a good amount of liquid to keep it cool and moist. Smaller masks for specific areas of the face have a lot less liquid.

On your face, the gel mask is slippery and will slide around a bit until you can smooth it over and get it stick to the skin. Quite fun, actually lol.

Each package of full face masks also includes a cleansing and makeup remover cloth. I personally prefer washing my face thoroughly with a cleanser before a mask, so I did not use the cloth.

This is what happens when you pull the plastic case out of the package :)

The liquid drains through a hole near the bottom of the case so that the mask isn't dripping wet when applied to the face. There is enough liquid left there to dab on your neck a few more times.

WARNING: a scary looking masked face is coming up, skip ahead if you don't want to see it. I always find a masked face unattractive to photograph, but it is necessary to show you how the gel mask looks on. It is thicker with a jelly consistency, quite different from a paper sheet mask :)

A few notes I have:
- The mask did not cover my forehead, even with stretching, maybe I have a longer face than average lol. The thin strip above my lips was slippery the most, it kept sliding down to my upper lip.

- Since the gel texture is heavier, I couldn't get the mask tuck in under my jawline, so I just left it hanging.

- The mask might slide off your face if you bend your head while sitting (like I did). You should lie down and relax with the mask on anyway.

- Be gentle with the mask, as you can make a dent on the mask with you nail - see the spot between my eyes :)

It took a bit of getting used to, but I am liking the gel masks. They feel like a step up from paper sheet masks, keeping my face moisturized and pampered. Though the effects are short term, due to the short amount of time the mask is on compared to a skin care product, that might be just the thing we need at the end of a long day.

Now that we get the basics out of the way, let's browse Maska gel mask selections.

Facelift is anti-aging 2 step collagen gel face masks to firm, smooth fine lines and stimulate the skin.

Step 1: exfoliates and nourishes the skin
Ingredients: Water, Glycolic Acid, Vitamin C, Allantoin, Salicylic Acid, Retinol, Imidazolidinyl Urea (I lost the packaging, so this list is stopped short, I apologize).

Step 2: penetrates and repairs damaged skin while calming it
Ingredients: Water, HA, y-PGA, Allantoin, Copper Tri-peptide, Witch Hazel, Egg Oil, Grape Seed Extract, Green Tea, Licorice Root, Fibroblast Growth Factor Acidic Recombinant, Co-Q10, Epidermal Growth Factor, Imidazolidinyl Urea.

Instruction: Remove mask 1 from tray and place it over the clean and dry face. Wait 10 - 15 minutes, remove mask, clean face. Repeat with mask 2. Use remaining excess liquid to further hydrate the skin. I actually used these two masks on two separate occasions, as I liked to enjoy a mask longer than the specified time and I ran out of time for the second mask in one night :) Definitely mask 2 does more work to the skin than mask 1.

The 2 masks are separately packaged inside the bag, 180g, retail $10.69.

Rejuve is a skin rejuvenating collagen gel face mask to hydrate and nourish tired, dull skin with anti-oxidant vitamins and aloe vera.

Similar instruction as with Facelift, but the time suggested is 20 - 30 minutes :)

Ingredients: Water, Shea Butter, Gamma Polyglutamic, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, B Complex Vitamins, Allantoin, Salicylic Acid, Aloe Vera, Pearl Essence, Imidazolidinyl Urea.

This is a Feel Good mask when you don't have serious skin concerns to worry about. The mask is 90g, retails $5.99.

Look is an eye renewal collagen gel mask to soften fine lines and brighten. It locks in moisture and lighten dark circles.

Same instruction, with 20 - 30 minutes under the eyes.

Ingredients: Water, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Co-Q10, Vitamin C, Propylene Glycol, Algae Extract, Amica, Butylene Glycol, DMDM Hydantoin, Glycerin, Salvia Officinalis Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Kojic Acid, Vitamin K, Imidazolidinyl Urea.

This mask calms my tired eyes at the end of the day, it's cooling and soothing. However, like I said, a half hour treatment on occasions would not treat your dark circles and fine lines, unfortunately.

The package includes 2 pairs of masks so you get 2 uses with it, 25g, retails $4.29.

Pout is supposed to be a lip enhancing collagen gel mask to plump and nourish, improve blood circulation to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, exfoliates to smooth fine lines.

Instruction: 20 - 30 minutes on the lips.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Co-Q10, Niacin, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Zinc, Stearate, Camphor, Egg Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Lactic Acid, Pearl Powder, Imidazolidinyl Urea.

The mask did stimulate my lips with the tingling sensation, making them feel full but again, I can't say it would do much for wrinkles. There are 2 masks in a pack, each is good for both lips, 30g in total, also $4.29.

All masks above are recommended to be used twice a week. I recommend these gel masks for a spa at home experience for your skin, but don't expect them to work as your skin care products. If you grab a few to try, stagger them to grab the full benefits of each :)

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

The hauls are back this week, some good deals needed to be shared lol.

The Super Redemption event at Shoppers was impossible to resist (if you have enough points). Make the best out of my Optimum points is the ultimate goal :)

Thought I deserved a treat to ease the stress of house hunting and buying, I got some high end items. Not something I normally spend my cash on, but with  points, I didn't feel too bad about it.

- DiorSkin Ultra Shimmering All over Face powder in Amber Diamond. I am probably the last blogger to own this
- DiorSkin Nude Tan Paradise duo - Iridescent blush & bronzing powder in Pink Glow, with a kabuki brush. I think Coral Glow is more pigmented but they were sold out
 - Clarins Splendour Summer bronzing compact.

Aren't they just too beautiful to look at? It is going to be really hard to put a brush on any of them.

Also got my fix of Maybelline Colour Tattoo pigments, reg. $8.99.

First row: Barely Brazen and Breaking Bronze
Second row: Black Mystery, Brash Blue and Potent Purple.

At this location, there was a sale tag on the display ($4.99) but they scanned regular priced. The supervisor agreed to give me the sale price, so I scored on these, but keep in mind that your store might not have them for the same price.

I know not everyone is a fan of loose pigments, but if you are interested in swatches, let me know.

And then, the mascara madness with lots of pink :)

- Maybelline the Rocket mascara was on sale for $4.99, and the Falsies Big Eyes mascara was $5.99, so why not? I went for the waterproof version on both.

- Essence I ♥ Extreme Crazy Volume mascara, $4.99 (reg. price)

- Annabelle Le Big Show mascara, with bonus Kohl liner, on clearance for $5.99. I don't need another liner, but I do need a replacement of my Le Big Show :)

No signs of the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coats and Sugar Coats in all locations near me but I did see the new display of Revlon Super Lustrous Shine lipsticks and the Super Lustrous glosses with new round tube, around $10 each. I heard these are sheer but wear comfortably on the lips, will wait for a good sale.

Lawtons is running a NYX super sale - 75% off selected items. Selections vary among stores, so I suggest browsing around for choices.

I went for the eyeshadows first. Selected singles (reg. $6.99) and palettes (reg. $14.99) have red tags on (which I removed to take pic).

Even better, the singles are B2G1F this week (including sale items), which comes out to be $1.17 a pop if you buy 3.

I got Volcano (MAC Mulch dupe), Deep Purple and Prune (MAC Hepcat dupe) and a few more as gifts for friends.

The Smokey Eyes palette was one of the 4 available, all on sale. The trios did not strike my fancy, so I passed.

The prices on the red tags were from the first round of discount (50%) but they did scan half of those, so don't worry if your store did not have a sign about the 75% off sale.

Can't remember if I tried a NYX blush (reg. $9.99) before, but after some swatching, I ended up not being able to put back many.

Only one cream blush with red tag, Tea Rose.
I went for some odd colour with the powder blushes, Cafe (first row), Red (yeah, like a crazy red colour) and Cocoa (as a contour/ bronzer shade).

Some pinks and mauves are also on sale. The shelf does offer testers and products have seals on them.

Not pictured, but Revlon Lash Potion is 40% off this week (reg. $9.99), I picked one up too :)

I also made a mad dash to Sephora website to order the Ariel palette (available to BIs only at the moment), CAD66. Love an early access to something that isn't supposed to come out until next month. I resisted Cinderella and Jasmine, but the aqua packaging and the colours this palette has is just too cool to pass up. Plus I heard this is the last princess that Sephora makes a collection with, so I caved.

What you have been up to, shopping wise? Do share :)

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It has been a good mail week, and I found fun new products to play around with. Here they all are :)

Let's start with the Sephora VIB sale. My US CP package from Tiffany at Will Work for Makeup came in with items that either were a lot cheaper in the US or I couldn't get here.

Not much, just 2 Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders in Diffused Light and Dim Light, reg. $45 (vs. CAD52) each and a Lorac Pro palette, reg. $42 (vs. CAD55).

These cost $110 (after 15% VIB, no tax where Tiffany lives) instead of CAD155 (after tax here), even after shipping, it was a steal. It sucks to realize that with a VIB discount, Canadians just get to the amount that Americans pay regularly.

I did get a few things from my Sephora during the sale:
- Shu Uemura eyelash curler, reg. CAD24
- OCC lip tar in Nylon, CAD19
- Stila Countless Color pigments in Acoustic and Finale (LE), CAD29 each.

I see that there are 10 shades of these on Stila website, only 7 on Sephora. Naturally, I kinda want the 3 that aren't at Sephora lol - Center Stage (pink, peach & blue), Melody (purple) and Encore (champagne & brown). The collection is coming to selected Shoppers soon, I don't know how many shades. Review for the 2 shades I got is coming.

I regret not getting a NARS Boys Don't Cry (Pierre Hardy) blush and a Buxom coconut-scented Hot Escapes bronzer because of pinksofoxy :) Oh well, next time!

On to drugstore stuff. Karen from Frazzle and Aniploish was helping me hunt down goodies that I couldn't wait to get my hands on.

Yes, these :) They are the Maybelline Color Tattoo Duochromes that might show up in Canada later, but they are LE, I could not miss the chance to collect them all.

First row, from L-R: 10 Precious Pearl, 15 Blue Paradise, 20 Waves of White, 25 Shady Shores.

Second row: 30 Icy Mint, 35 Cool Crush, 40 Seashore Frosts and 45 Lavish Lavender.

I think Maybelline starts the numbering again just with this collection, so the numbers might happen to be the same with current shades, a bit confusing, but whatever. Swatches will be up soon.

More duochromes, in naii polish form this time.

Here are the Funky Fingers duochrome bunch with, from top left, clockwise, Venom, Pink Pixels, Mood Ring and Primrose.

Haven't got around to wear any of these yet, but they look awesome in the bottles. If Funky Fingers could do it, why can't others? I need more good duochromes, more brands should join the bandwagon!

Gotta give Funky Fingers an award for funny looking bottle shape lol. They are awkward to hold for pics.

More lemmings to fulfill, this is a Wet n Wild LE palette galore :)

In the background are the Color Icon eyeshadow medleys with a MegaLiner liquid liner attached, in 34120 and 34121 (no names).

In the front are the Color Icon eyeshadow palettes in Nude Awakening and Going in the Wild (LE).

No sign of these in Canada yet, at this point, unfortunately.

I was so happy to get my hands on the Jesse's Girl Julie G Frosted Gumdrops collection for cheap. It was on Groupon US for $13.99, I begged Karen to get me one.

From L-R: Blueberry Fizz (blue), Rock Candy (light green), Crushed Candy (lilac), Tangerine Dream (yellow orange), Sugar Rush (orange red) and Hot Cinnamon (raspberry red).

Making a rare appearance at the top is Maybelline Vivid lipstick in Blazen Berry. This is one of the two shades Canada missed out on, the one I wanted the most. Yes, I ask Tiffany for 2 tubes of it, just cause.

And you know these highly anticipated Rimmel Apocalips, don't you?

Rimmel said these won't get to the US next year, I don't even know if Canada will get them. And hell no, I won't wait till then to find out.

I got Apocaliptic and Stellar off echemist for $7.25 each, free shipping. Not too bad!

Wore them over the weekend, let's just say they are shockingly amazing. You gotta try at least one!!! Need swatches to prove it?

What's new in town? Milani shelf at Lawtons is fully stocked with new products that American bloggers have been raving about. It didn't help that the brand is 25% off this week with bonus Airmiles :)

I bought:
- Eyeshadow primer, reg. $9.99
- Multitasker face powder in Medium, reg. $10.49
- Color Statement lipsticks in 20 Uptown Mauve, 24 Black Cherry and 26 Nude Cream, reg. $6.99
- Color Statement lip liner in True Red, reg. $3.99.

Could have got a lot more with the eyeshadow pencils, blushes, etc. but I stopped there lol.

A brand new Cover Girl Flamed Out collection has showed up as well. Cover Girl is 20% off at Lawtons, so I caved.

I got 5 shades of eyeshadow pencils. From top to bottom: 300 Silver Flame, 350 Melted Caramel Flame, 335 Ashen Glow Flame, 345 Ice Flame and 310 Red Hot Flame, reg. $7.49.

Just a note, the names are only on the plastic wraps, once you peel them off, you are left with just numbers printed on the pencils. I hate referring to a shade by number instead of name. Frustrating!

The 4 eyeshadow pots don't come with plastic seals, so only numbers, no names. I got 345 (dark pink), 315 (blue), 355 (dark brown) and 325 (green), reg. $4.99.

Some good news from Lawtons. First, they now carry Wet n Wild, including the Fergie nail polish (not makeup). Product selections are similar to what we see at Walmart and Superstore, but Lawtons run sales more often :)

Second, those with good eyes will notice those little boxes on the bottom right corner in the pic. Yes, Real Technique brush sets have arrived as well, prices range from $19.99 to $23.99. Individual brushes will be available later in the summer.

Not pictured, but I also got an awesome deal at La Senza with their 40% off weekend promo. Sale on top of sale, and the loyalty discount, I got about 70% off regular price for the Body Kiss bras they have just launched. They are kind of awesome :)

I have done a lot of swatching and testing over the weekend, so stay tuned for reviews. Hope every had a good weekend and some good family time with loved ones.
