New drustore displays

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I went to a Shoppers Beauty Boutique in the weekend, found a bunch of new displays that I am excited to tell you about. My hope is that regular Shoppers also get them, just in case there will be a sale in the near future :)

First one, and an important one at that. Fan of L'Oreal in general, or L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows in particular, do not walk by this display without checking it out, as it is GOLD! Thanks to my pal at Sakura Lovely for a heads-up.

This is called L'Oreal Glam Bronze Wild Instinct LE collection. Quite a long name, so don't mind that. It's the products that got my heart racing.

The star of the collection is supposed to be the bronzing powders (CAD15.49 each), with beautiful animal markings on top. They all appear to be shimmery, not matte.

From L-R:
- Light: Into the Wild
- Medium: Walk on the Wild Side
- Dark: Born to be Wild.

However, the Infallible eyeshadows are what I have been waiting for. They are the used-to-be US exclusive shades - Iced Latte, Amber Rush and Bronzed Taupe (CAD11.99 each). Excited yet? The problem is this is a LE display and there are only 4 of each shades :(

The nail polish, if you are interested, are Now You Sea Me and After Hours, CAD8.49 a piece.

Another new display of Marcelle Multi-Colour 3D Cubes had arrived also. 2 different compacts, with 9 colour cubes and a hidden compartment for a mirror and an applicator. These are Limited Edition, retail CAD16.95 each.

On the left is the Multi-Colour 3D Face Cube, with pinks and corals. This one could act as a highlighter or blush, depending on your skin tone or the area of the compact that you put your brush on.

On the right is the Multi-Colour 3D Eyeshadow Cube with a combination of highlight shades, pink, purple, silver, etc.

The display is cute, with the compacts sticking out like colourful windows. I didn't see any tester at the time, so I can't comment on pigmentation.

And finally Quo. They have been pretty active with quite a few new releases, which I hadn't had a chance to check out, unfortunately. I'm talking way back at their Spring collection with green marble pattern on the packaging.

This collection doesn't seem to have a name. In the front, on the left are the 2 croc-printed bronzers called Miami Rush and California Sun, CAD15 each. These remind me of Marcelle Wild Pattern Multi-Use pressed powder in Multi-Croc from the Feline collection.

On the right are the lip glosses with pretty colour swirls, with 4 shades - I don't think we need the names lol, CAD10 each.

Along the right side are the Leopard kabuki brush, CAD22. The "Leopard" part is actually on the bristles, not the handle, if you are wondering. It looks quite interesting but is a little pricy for a tiny brush.

And hiding at the back are the eyeshadow palettes which I can't really show you the colours in the pic - On the Beach, and Wave of Colours, CAD22 a pop.

There are also some new nail polish sets of Quo by Orly nail polish, 5 mini bottles each, for CAD18. I still prefer the regular sized bottles, but that's just me :)

I am waiting for a sale to get a few things from the above displays, so no pic haul pics :) Only went in an Ardene outlet store and bought some glitter nail polish - 4 for $10, reg. CAD3.50 each.

From L-R: Blizzard, Day N Night, 70's Disco and Confetti Glitter.

The glitters are not dense, so they are floating around in the clear base. I expect that these don't work by themselves but as top coats. Blizzard is different from the rest, as it has chunkier glitters, the only one I found.

Saw an awesome deal on the scarves - 5 for $10 (reg. CAD9.50 each), thought I could use some for early spring mornings and around the office. These are the light and thin ones of course, not the heavy-duty winter scarves.

A snap shot of the patterns - a black and white leopard with pink trims, a navy/ farm themed print, another black and white print, a lovely red flower print and a tiger striped black print with gold glitter. Now I'm ready for spring lol.

Let me know what you got lately, or any new products you found. I'm all ears.

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Another post in the weekend finds series :) I was wandering around here and there, there are a few good deals I want to share.

Lawtons has 30% off EcoTools this week (till Thursday), plus they had the bonus x10 Airmiles offer on Saturday, so I grabbed a few. The biggest discount so far I've seen on the brand.
- 6-piece bamboo Eye brush set with a large eye brush, angled crease brush, petite eye shading brush, highlighting brush, smudge brush and the case with mirror, CAD11.19 after discount.
I'm still deciding to keep this set or not. They are kinda small compared to the regular size. If you have it, let me know what you think.

-  Bamboo deluxe concealer brush and Eye shading brush, CAD3.49 each.

She's G.A.L (Got a Look) is a brand that I never heard of before. Have seen it at Lawtons lately, the brushes look really cute with the purple accent colour on the bristles and handles. Price point is quite high, CAD10 and up for a single brush.

This 4-piece brush set was 50% off, I paid CAD12.99. They are supposed to be handcrafted, with chrome-plated handles and softest synthetic fibers. For the price, I don't think it's a bad bargain.

A quick google search showed that Ulta in the US carries the line, similar price range. However, there is no info on the manufacturer or company's website, so that's all I know about it.

Wanna guess what these are?

I caught a glimpse of them on the shelf at Claire's 10 for $10 sale, loved the lace print on baby pink background. As you know, Claire's serves young adult clientele, so I didn't expect this kind of "elegant" packaging.

I automatically went and opened them all up to see what "gems" were inside :)

They are eyeshadow palettes with quite good colour combinations and cute patterns on the surface of each shadow.

I found 3 different sets. Top left corner is smokey dark blue and grey, bottom left is neutral (baby pink, beige, plum) and on the right is for a purple night look.

They still have protective plastic sleeves on, and are too pretty to touch so I haven't swatched them yet. I have high hope for them though :) If you find them, make sure to open the lid to check the content, as some palettes I found with the eyeshadows all shattered.

Found these rings at an Ardene outlet which is running 70% off the whole store (from original price), couldn't pass them up.

They are originally CAD4.50 a piece, normally on sale 3 for CAD10 which isn't bad already, 70% off is even better. I can't confirm if the same sale applies to regular Ardene stores though because the one I went to was an outlet.

The only ring in top left corner is actually from Suzy Shier for 75% off, very bling-y. There are great sales going on for lots of things in store, I got a few basic long-sleeve T-shirts for CAD2.50. If you haven't been to the store lately, go check the sale out.

And these are some random nail polishes I found on clearance at Superstore.

My local reader, Duochrome Diva, told me that there were some on sale for 50% off. I paid between CAD2-4 each for them. There was no sale tags on them at my store, so scan the price to make sure they are on sale in your store too.
- Sally Hansen Complete Salon Downtown Rubies
- Nicole by OPI Spark My Mistletoe
- L'Oreal Luminescence.

The Nicole by OPI holiday collection was 50% off too but I didn't like any of the colours.

And last but not least, this Neutrogena Clinical Anti-Aging System Starter kit was free (well, after rebate), valued anywhere from CAD37-55 depending where you look :)

Superstore was offering full-rebate form for all Neutrogena Clinical kits at the Coupon Zone in the last 2 weeks, so it's over now. But you still have time at Walmart (the rebate form is attached to the packaging already) and Shoppers (the form is available at cashier), so head over there if you want to try this line out. Keep an eye on the rebate period so you don't miss out.

Hope you like my little tidbits here and there. I didn't get them all in one day, could have put them up sooner if my cat Oreo didn't have an emergency (Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, if you want to know) in the weekend. He seems fine now but I have to keep an eye on him, give him meds (which wasn't an easy task at all until I could find some pill pockets to trick him). Needless to say, my weekend was not fun. Hope yours were better.

Weekend haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I was sick at home yesterday, was not productive at all, as you can guess. Today is IMATS Toronto which I couldn't go, so I went to the mall (20% off sale) to make up for it. I was sad, so damage was done badly.

First stop: Sirens. They were doing 30% off the entire store or 50% off if you have their loyalty card (which I do).

I used to think Sirens was more for teenagers and often overlooked their stuff. Then I found their sales were pretty good, and went there more often. Today's sale was one of those cases.

The halter bra top on the left is quite sparkly, with zebra-like print and lace along the waist line in the front, I paid CAD8.75 for it.

The corset on the right also has a built-in bra which I'm a fan of, CAD9.75.

A pair of glossy animal-print leggings, CAD5.25, and a sequin eternity scarf, CAD6.25.

I would prefer a longer form of eternity scarf, but this scarf is quite wide, which probably made up for the length :)

I was probably in a holiday mood, as I realized I got quite a few sparkly things, just from this one store. Was quite close to get another pea coat jacket, but I still have 2 I got from Old Navy.

They had some LA Colors nail polish and eyeshadow palettes, but even with the sale, it wasn't worth it, as they are found at Dollar Tree in the States (i.e. they are $1).

The Fairweather store is closing down, I was hoping for more discount but they only did 20% on top of the discounted price. I noticed the "motorcycle-styled" jacket on the way out and couldn't pass it up.

The jacket also came in black but I don't have anything in this colour, so I was drawn to it. 2 zippers in the front, under the fold, and 2 on the side, and the stripe pattern on the shoulder. There were only 2 of them left in the store, and 1 was my size. It came home with me, CAD23.99 later.

It's probably a good idea for those of you who live around here to keep an eye on this store, in case they bring the price down even more. We haven't had a closing-down sale for quite a while now, have we?

On to the more exciting stuff - nail polish :)

The Ardene store at the mall always has their nail polish 2 for CAD6 (reg. CAD3.50 each) but I always forget to check it out. For those who don't know, Ardene is similar to Claire's, but I think it's only in Canada.

Today, with the sale, thought it was a good time to haul. I saw 2 different bottle shapes of the nail polish but can't tell whether they are changing the packaging or have 2 lines together.

From L-R: Navy Girl, Rockin Purple, Emerald Green and Heavy Metal. Not many shades to choose from, but I think I did an ok job picking these out from the bunch.

And here are the new La Senza Ooh La Nails finally. Again, La Senza is the Canadian version of Victoria's Secret.

There are 15 shades available (mostly cream), retail 3 for CAD15 (reg. CAD6.50 each). I picked, from L-R: Moscow Nights, Big Ben Baby! and Make Mine Milan!. The bottles are quite small (6.7g/ .23oz). Can't wait to test them out.

I also get myself some awesome push-up bras (2 for CAD36.50, which came with a free cotton panty) but didn't think I need to take pics of them lol.
Last stop, Lawtons. Surprisingly, I didn't go crazy there.

They just had Vasanti in stores, so I got the Eye Wonder Triple Action Eye Treatment cream, reg. CAD42.

Heard good things about it but Vasanti doesn't go on sale at Shoppers ever, so I thought I would grab it here with 20% off.

Wanted to get a EcoTools foundation brush but it was sold out, so I just grabbed this lonely Revlon Matte Suede Emerald City on clearance to accompany my Eye Wonder :)

Ok, that's my haul. Now I brace myself for the IMATS haul posts that will start popping up on my google reader very soon. Have a great weekend everyone!
