Uno Magnetic jewelry

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

For something different, we talk magnetic jewelry today :) This is a piece of interactive magnetic jewelry from Uno Magnetic by Luis Pons, sent to me for review.

The nickel ball is stored in the left end and the 40" chain in the right end of the tube, and when you bring them together, the interaction happens. The chain just wraps around the ball, quite fun to watch.

The neodymium magnet is strong enough to act as the locking device to keep the light weight chain in place with the pattern you create. The chain can be used anywhere you can wrap it around - your neck, wrist, ankle, waist, hair, etc. :)

The product is not recommended for children under 14 nor to be used near a pacemaker, defibrillator or magnetic storage media. I did ask Squirt to model the chain for me for picture taking purpose.

Here is the Uno, worn different ways.

More necklace experiments.

Needless to say, we had fun playing around with the chain. I'm a fan of the easy locking mechanism, as I had my fair share of frustration fighting with spring rings (yes, I looked this up lol) and lobster claws on my jewelry.

With the popular stacking trend, you can do a lot more with combining different coloured chains. This single pack, available in different colours, is $15.99 at Lawtons. The "Retail partners" page on Uno site suggests some phone numbers you can call to find a retailer near you.

My Name Necklace

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

We don't talk about jewelry enough on this blog even though it is another passion of mine. I have wanted a monogram necklace for a while and was excited to receive one from My Name Necklace Canada for review.

My Name Necklace items are customized to the name or word of your choice, and so is the chain length (14", 16", 18", 20" or 22"). Something about customized jewelry that is always tempting to me. It's the feeling of owning something proudly or displaying who you are/ what you feel/ what important to you openly.

This was how the necklace arrived - in a cute off-white paper box with a pink ribbon bow. Great for a gift, no need for extra gift wrapping.

The design I chose was the Sparkling Diamond-Cut Sterling Silver "Carrie" Style Name necklace, with the word "Sparkled" to honour this blog :)

The pendant is made out of solid sterling silver (0.925), 0.7mm/ 0.03" thick and 6-11 mm/ 0.2-0.4" high. The diamond cut finish sparkles a lot, which is what I wanted :) I am happy with how it looks and feels for the amount it costs, but I wish there was an option to choose its size. I want to keep this piece for a long time and would prefer at least 1mm thick pendants (personal choice).

The chain is a basic sterling silver box chain, holds the pendant well but is delicate. I chose the 16" length (the shortest available). Again, if there was a choice for even shorter chain or thicker chain, I'd go for it, as I like necklaces like this closer to  the base of my neck and wear them very often. I had to constantly remind myself to be gentle with the necklace, just to be on the safe side :)

This is me modelling the necklace. You can see where it hangs on my neck and how sparkly it is.

This necklace is $79.95 regularly, on sale for $39.95 at the moment, with free world wide shipping. The customization requires more time to be ready to ship (up to 18 days).

There was another My Name Necklace that I received before the one you saw above.

It was made with my first choice of word (my name) but mistakenly in gold and a different cut than what I chose. The company was gracious enough to let me keep it and resend me the silver one.Awesome customer service. Now I have a toned down version for daily wear and a bling out version for parties :)

All in all, the necklaces are worth it at the sale price. Love the cut and clarity of the word. Options on the thickness of both the pendant and the chain would add values to the pieces. More customization means happier customers :)

Nail polish rings

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

If you are deep in the nail polish world like me, you would have heard about nail polish jewelry. Yes, a layer of real nail polish is encased in there, and we wear it. Cool huh?

I have 2 rings to show you today, haven't got any pendants or earrings yet. Future purchase maybe :)

My first ring is from Ginger Kitty Designs on etsy. Tracey makes custom jewelry where you can choose the nail polish from the list of colours she has. If she doesn't have the colour, you can send her a small amount of the nail polish and she will make the jewelry with that.

The ring came in a nice white paper box, with her store logo on one side and the note "Thank you" on another.

The second ring was a surprised gift.

I was doing a swap with Jette at Vetten's Blog - Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure for Gosh Holographic, an ideal swap, don't you think? Gosh Holographic was my long time lemming, but when I saw this ring in the package, I gasped. She included it as an extra, I couldn't believe it! Jette made quite a few rings just for fun, to wear or to swap with. I think she should start selling them, cause the one she sent me is awesome.

Here they are on my hand.

The purple ring is called Liquid Euphora Bliss ring. Bliss is a multi-chrome colour from Liquid Euphoria. Was discontinued a long time ago, very highly sought after. I thought if I couldn't have the nail polish, I should at least have the ring :)

My crappy camera couldn't capture the duo chrome effect, you can check out how many colours Bliss has (I counted at least 4) from the pics on the site (follow the link above).
Tracey often has a discount code posted on her blog or twitter, so keep an eye out if you plan a purchase. Note that the ring is small. I have small fingers to compare it with, just so you know.

Jette made the ring she sent me with Catherine Arley 667 and OPI Black Shatter on top.

Catherine Arley is another brand that makes some good holo nail polish, cheap but is only available at one website that takes quite long to ship. You might have seen lots of swatches of these holos on nail blogs all over the world. I'm so happy to own a Catherine Arley colour, in the form of a ring lol. And the shatter effect? So ME!

I like Jette's ring a little better as it has a sturdy rim to hide away the part where the top and base of the ring meet. It is also a bit larger. But most of all, I like it because it was an unexpected gift, a RAOK. I want to maybe buy or swap a few more rings from Jette, like the Ozotic Pro Elytra 528 she just posted, or maybe a necklace lol. The idea of wearing HTF nail polish as jewelry excites me.
What do you think about nail polish jewelry? Would you wear them?

He Qi Crystal Designs haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I have been on a swarovski kick recently. This is a little haul I got from He Qi Crystal Designs.

The first two pieces, I bought when Lisa had BOGO sale, and the third piece I won from her monthly giveaway back in May. This picture is to show you the length and how the necklaces look all together. For a close-up on the pendants to see how pretty they are, keep reading :)

As you probably have known, swarovski crystals reflect light in different ways and show off different colours when doing that. Fascinating! I always want to have some jewelries with swarovski crystals but they always seem to be quite expensive. I found He Qi through blogs and finally made my first purchase.

Below are the necklaces with a modeal (i.e. me, lol), with a bit details on the crystals and chains. Excuse how I look, as pictures were taken at the end of a work day.

First piece: Custom Swarovski Pendant Necklace in Bermuda Blue, $27.

Description from Lisa's site:
- 18mm (large) SWAROVSKI Crystal heart, 32 colours of choice
- rhodium plated rhinestone embellished heart bail
- 16-inch sterling silver figaro chain.

I'm actually glad I picked Bermuda Blue for the pendant, as it looks quite unique - I haven't seen a colour like it. The chain is simple, as all attention would be on the crystal itself :)

Second piece: Golden Rosalie Swarovski Victorian Necklace (inspired by Rosalie from Twilight), $27 (org. $32)
- 18mm SWAROVSKI crystal heart in Crystal AB
- double-leaf bail in gold
- antique brass Victorian link, SWAROVSKI pearls and crystals (wire-wrapped, using antique brass wire, by hand), aprox. 18 inches in length.

The chain on this piece is so cute, I could have got away with wearing it by itself, without the pendant. But don't get me wrong, crystal AB is such a versatile colour, as it's clear but shines blue/ purple/ green depending on the angle you look at it. A complete awesome piece, if you ask me.

Third piece, the most magnificent of them all: HQCD Signature Super Nova Necklace in Montana Sapphire, $40. The pendant is a beautiful Swarovski crystal rivoli stone is framed in a circle of silver Japanese seed beads and matching SWAROVSKI bicones. The color of the focus is a darker sapphire blue. Meticulously and carefully double beaded to ensure the most durability. Pendant measures aprox. 2cm in diameter, and comes with a 18-inch sterling silver chain

I have no words to describe the pendant, as it is so gorgeous. The stone gives you such a deep dimension that just sucks you in there, and as I picked a darker shade, it's even more mysterious. And then there are the small stones surrounding the main crystal, I feel like a royal member wearing this piece.

Here is the close-up on the 3 pendants. Did I do a good job describing it, or the picture could say it all? :)

I had the option to choose the colours for the crystals and am very happy with my choice. Like nail polish, I am going dark with necklace pendants too, lol. I think darker colours are easier to pair with clothing and/or other jewelry pieces that I might wear.

I like the fact that Lisa offers free (international) shipping, and often has sale/ promotion/ free makeup/ skin care samples. I might keep an eye out for future sales, as this might be addictive :)

And if you are wondering, this is not a sponsored post, as Lisa doesn't even know that I have a blog or I am going to post it. Just thought it'd be fun to share.
