NOTD: Gosh Milky Way

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It's October! I have been out of town for a conference this week and fly back this afternoon. Me not operating with a routine results in posts not on their regular schedule either, sigh.

So we have NOTD Wednesday instead of Thursdays :) This is Gosh Star Dust (Pearly shiny finish) in Milky Way.

Can't say for sure if the Star Dusts are LE, cause I found them on regular shelf as well as a separate display. I quite enjoy this type of finish, and Milky Way is a pretty colour too.

The name is quite appropriate, isn't it? Milky Way is a light grey with gorgeous and strong silver shimmers. The shimmers lighten the grey base, making the colour quite unique in my stash.

However, for full opacity, this polish takes 3 coats. 2 thick coats would probably do it too, but I ran into a little application issue. Not very visible in the first pics, but as you will see in the closeup, the polish did not layer well.

I definitely left enough wait time between coats, so this should not happen, but the second layer refused to go all the way to the edges. The result was exposed edges and/or streaks running along the nails.

I am not sure if the base coat had anything to do with this as I haven't worn Milky Way again since this mani. I hope it did, cause I like the polish enough to be disappointed if it has a layering issue. I'll report back when I test it again.

Beside that, Milky Way is a pretty colour that I can imagine on my nails all year round.

In other news, I went to the Sephora they had here last night, hoping it was bigger and carried more brands. It was unfortunately not the case, but I did get 2 Sephora Rouge Shine lipsticks on sale and some GlamGlow mask samples to do a little pampering when I got back to the hotel.

I am trying hard to be good and save $ for the never-ending wish list of holiday sets on Sephora website. Don't know how well that would work though :)

NOTD: Gosh Frosted Rose

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

If I ever have to wear nude polishes for work (which I don't, fortunately), they have to be the fun types - sparkly or textured.

I showed you before Joe Fresh Nude Glaze which is my favorite nude thus far. When I came across a display of Gosh Frosted polish recently, Frosted Rose caught my eyes.

With the tag line "glittery matte finish, frosted sand look", these are Gosh's version of textures. Looks like they released 3 last year - Frosted Gold, Frosted Silver and Frosted Purple, which I somehow missed entirely. If you like pastels, you might like the other 4 shades this time - Frosted Soft Pink, Frosted Soft Coral, Frosted Soft Blue and Frosted Soft Green, $6.99 each.

Frosted Rose is quite muted, a bit more pigmented and more pink than Nude Glaze, very sparkly with fine and chunky silver glitters. And surprisingly, the glitters did not make this texture any more gritty than others, without a top coat of course.

And what makes it even more fabulous is the fact that it only took one coat here and was very easy to apply. Removal took a bit more work obviously but I am not complaining.

If you want a brief description of this shade, I'd say it is sparkling sand (totally stealing the idea from Essence Beach Cruisers here, lol).

Here is the closeup. Keep in mind that the mani is a lot more sparkly than it shows here. And I could not stop checking my nails out while wearing it!

As much as I like Frosted Rose, I really wish Gosh went bold with this collection for the summer. Wouldn't it be fun to rock some neon textures with this level of pigmentation and sparkles? Pastels are probably more universal to lots of people, I guess.

After a great week, weather wise, the rain has returned to town :( Everyday there is a chance of shower in the forecast. Thursday is the food truck party and I don't want to eat in the drizzle. That sounds more romantic than it is lol.

Blue NOTD for Voola

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

This NOTD is dedicated to my dear friend Mary at My Numerous Diversions in memory of her mom Voola.

November is Pancreatic Cancer month and Mary wants to raise awareness by wearing blue nail polish, her mom's favorite colour, and encourage her twitter friends to do the same.

For every nail polish picture tweeted to Mary @mellinail with #endpancancer hashtag tomorrow, Monday, October 22, she will donate $1 to Pancreatic Cancer Canada on top of a base donation of $30 she already set aside for.

I connected with Mary through the love of nail polish on twitter, and got to meet her once last time I was in Toronto. We were like long lost friends, could talk about anything and everything.

So here is my little contribution to what Mary started, to show my support. Join me, if you haven't done so already. You don't have to make a post, a picture will do.

This is Gosh Blue Monday, first pic with flash and this second pic without flash on an overcast day. It is a beautiful medium blue with fine shimmers which looks more intense in the sun or direct lighting.

I hope many of you will see this post and have enough time to have a blue NOTD pic tweeted to Mary by tomorrow. It will mean a lot to me, and to her if you do (and please let me know if you do, tweet me). Thank you so much in advance.

I also go back to almost 200 NOTDs posts I have on the blog and found some of my favorite blue colours to show you below.

There are obviously like a million of blues out there, in all kinds of finishes. I will probably find even more blues with everyone's tweets tomorrow.

To Mary, your mom will be so proud and happy with what you do for her. Hugs!

NOTD: Gosh Golden Dragon

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Forget about Fall, Winter has arrived! After leaving snowflakes in Manitoba a few days back, it delivers 6 degree temperature (43F) this morning around here and will warm up to 10C/ 50F during the day.

And I have "snowflakes" (i.e. glitters) on my nails today too. This is Gosh Golden Dragon, with a slight duochrome effect in the bottle (hardly on the nails). The base colour isn't bad, but I expected a little more out of it, so I was disappointed.

It has been a while since Gosh came out with new interesting shades, what's up with that?

There's only one thing to do to a boring colour: top it up with glitters lol.

This is Revlon Star, one of the LE glitter top coats Revlon released a while ago. It's mostly silver glitters (of different sizes, which at certain angle appear holographic) in clear base.

I have used it in occasions like this to give me a reason to glance at my nails over time. Scroll down to see the glitters in details, you will see why.

I couldn't resist posting 2 close-ups where Star is subtle and intense just by the way the light hit it.

Totally a Winter inspired mani, isn't it? Though it also reminds me of the beach, glittering sand and cool breeze. Want a vacation now? :)

Talking about vacation, I can't wait until my next trip home in December. I'll miss Canadian Christmas, Boxing Day sale and lots of other things but I needed it. This year has been one of the hardest years I have been through my entire life, I wouldn't have last this long without the promise of this trip.

I hope my fellow Canadian readers had a nice Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for my heart hanging in there, not giving in to the hardship that went at it, for Squirt for being the love of my life, sweet and loving, and for you, my readers, for the sweet comments and support on this blog.

I should probably leave it at that before I get all emotional here :)

Last pic, isn't it dreamy?

Back to the topic I love to talk about: shopping! I didn't want to brave the cold on Saturday, didn't have time on Sunday and nothing opened on Monday, so no makeup haul to report. I did get a few clothing items and shoes online with some Thanksgiving promotions.

How about you guys? Any good shopping scores? Awesome Thanksgiving meal? Or just generally an awesome weekend?

Just heard this morning that we are getting a Walmart Super Center, don't know if I should be excited lol.

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

The first weekend since the buses were back on the road, and I of course shopped my heart out. More clothes than makeup this time, however, so the haul is not too big lol.

You all heard me screaming about the Revlon lip butter $3.99 2-day deal at Shoppers, right?

Here are my 4 tubes, pretty in pink quited packaging, from L-R: Candy Apple, Raspberry Pie, Sweet Tart and Strawberry Shortcake. It was a hard decision to stop at 4, I tell you.

I was even more excited to find the Gosh $7 clearance bin was reduced to $3 a piece. Couldn't pass it up.

From top - bottom:
- Gosh Velvet Touch eyeliner in Blue Lagoon, Green Devil and Green Grass.
- Gosh Waterproof Eyeshadow pen in Love that Copper and Love that Purple.
- Gosh Effect powder in Azure, Rose Gold and Meringue.

I found a huge clearance section at the Lawtons location I couldn't get to in the last month and a half. A lot of things I had seen before for 50% off were reduced even further (like 75% off).

Grabbed some of the China Glaze Holiday sets, $3.99 each.  I know the markup on these was high, so I never buy them at full price.

On the top: Berry Sweet set with Velvet Bow, Ring in the Red and a Holiday Berry moisturizing lotion.

On the bottom: Deck the Halls set with Glittering Garland, Champagne Bubbles and a cuticle oil.

Single China Glaze bottles for $.99, I got Icicle and Tinsel Town. OPI were $2.49, mostly pinks/reds, I only got a bottle of base coat, and Warm & Fozzie.

And a new exciting product display at Lawtons I gotta tell you about.

This is Layla Hologram Effects. I was really excited to see Lawtons add this new line to the Layla MagEffects they already carry, $15.99 a bottle. Now all I need is a good sale.

The shades in the Hologram Effect line:
- 01 Mercury Twilight
- 02 Coral Glam
- 03 Retro Pink
- 04 Ultra Violet
- 05 Jade Groove
- 06 Mermaid Spell
- 07 Ocean Rush, and
- 08 Flash Back.

Oh Layla, I love you from the first sight!

This display isn't as new as Layla but I think it's worth mentioning - Milani Texture with Jewel Fx and One Coat Glitter Specialty nail lacquers.

From L-R: Gems, Gold, Silver, Red Sparkle, Gold Glitz and Silver Dazzle.

All shades have been released before, except Red Sparkle having new gold glitters mixed in with the red ones. Based on what I saw on blogs, the new shade is less saturated than the old one and I actually prefer the old Red Sparkle.

The price is increased a bit, $6.29 vs. $5.99 with the first release. This display is not of my interest (as I already own the shades I wanted before) but would be the second chance for those who missed out last time, especially for Gems. Watch out for sales.

With the weather warming up, everybody seems to be itching to shop for summer clothes. We had lots of surprising finds at H&M, Sirens and Winners.

Also grab a pair of tan wedges from Payless (with their F&F 30% off promo). These are the "Sarah" from Montego Bay Club. Reg. $39.99, on sale for $27.99, after discount I paid $19.50.

Squirt got 2 pairs of boots there for great prices too.

I am waiting for some online nail polish orders to come in, hopefully soon so I can show them to you. Until then, have a great day out there!

Shoppers haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Last weekend was an awesome time to shop at Shoppers. I mostly stock up on favorites or items I have been wanting to get, conveniently are on sale, plus the bonus redemption/ $10 gift card offer :)

First things first, backups of my Annabelle staples. Like I mentioned on twitter, there are $1 coupons attached to the Black Collection display, and bonus 2,000 Optimum points on the purchase of any 2 of these. Extra savings!

You recognize these, don't you: Volumelips in So Sanguine and Tangerina, Smoothie eyeshadow pencils in Acaidasiac and Licoriche, CAD6.99 each.

At the bottom is Gosh Velvet Touch eyeliner in Banana. Gosh is clearing out lots of shades and products from its current lines, to make room for new products. Lots of Velvet Touch/ Let's Twist/ Extreme Art liners, Effect powders, lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadows, etc. were on clearance for CAD7 each. I freaked out seeing Banana there, fearing it's gonna be gone forever. Let's just say I grabbed more than 1 :)

Other good deals:

- Maybelline Fit Me foundation in #235, CAD7.99. This is the lowest price I have seen on this product. Shoppers doesn't carry my current shade (#310), so I went 1 shade lighter, hope it works when my skin gets lighter in the fall.
- Marcelle Face Powder in Translucent Medium, CAD9.99 (reg. CAD13.95)
- Marcelle Pressed Powder, also in Translucent Medium, CAD5.99 (reg. CAD13.95)
- Vichy Dermablend Corrective foundation in 45 Gold, CAD21.99 (25% off).

Not pictured is CoverFx cream foundation, CAD39. The store didn't have my shade, so I had to grab the wrong shade for the sake of the redemption, then exchange it later at another store.

The Fragrance clearance corner has some interesting selections. I grabbed a few as gifts, CAD19.99 each.

- Guess by Marciano EDP, 100ml
- Pink Sugar EDT, 50ml
- Hummer and Hummer H2 EDT, 125ml.

I'd say the sale prices are awesome on these, but testers aren't always available. Now if only Katy Perry Purr would make it to this corner, lol.

Aveeno is 25% off, not a bad discount. I got:
- Aveeno Positively Radiant Dual-textured Cleansing pads (28's), CAD10.49. Not cheap for the amount of pads you get, but I've heard lots of rave on youtube about this, and redeemed for it, so that's ok.
- Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing lotion, 532ml, CAD13.49. Humongous size lol.

Hope you guys checked with my weekly flyer deal post and scored yourself some good buys.

I also did some damage at Joe Fresh summer clothing clearance sale. Prices were as low as $2 for Ts, $7-10 for dresses. The problem was finding size at this point. There's a coupon for a free reusable bag with any Joe Fresh apparel purchase, if you need a bag to bring your clothes home.

My stash - Gosh

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

How's everyone today? I'm coming down with a cold, not a very exciting weekend, is it? :-)

This is my little stash of Gosh nail polish. I didn't start hauling their polish until I realized they were only CAD6 a bottle. They used to be a round CAD13, so I didn't come anywhere near them before. Then some old collections were cleared out at half price (CAD3), so here's what I have been collection.

From L-R: Bright Passion, Black Passion, Purple Heart, Gasoline, Ocean, Golden Dragon and Blue Monday.

I'm so sad to miss out on Gosh Rainbow and Holographic, as they were around before I noticed the brand. Don't understand why they don't make them part of permanent line, as they are among the most awesome Gosh polish colours. Can't wait for another 40% off sale on Gosh products at Shoppers, so I can get a few more products.

Talking about Gosh, I am contemplating a giveaway with some fun products from the brand. Are you ladies interested?

Sad that the weather is back to grey/ not sunny today. I'm off to take some meds, see you all later.

Shoppers haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Last Saturday, Shoppers had the 20x points, so I was there picking up a few things. Nothing major :-)

The first item on the top left corner is Gosh Cover Me Up Makeup Mousse in Champagne(#04), on clearance for CAD5.25 (reg. CAD21). I never knew Gosh had mousse makeup, so I thought I could compare it to the Maybelline Dream Mousse I had.

Right below it are Gosh Effect Powders in Rusty Nail and White Diamond, CAD3.25 (reg. CAD15), pretty colours.

On the right is Quo Prime Time Eye and Face primer (2 separate containers in 1 bottle) which I didn't know Quo had. Cool concept, don't you think? I'd love to see how well they work. Oh, and it was on sale for CAD9 this week (reg. CAD16). I also got a Quo Stay Put Lipstick in Seduction, a cool red colour. Quo lines have been extended quite intensively, I have to say.

Also found Duwop Twilight Venom on sale for CAD8.99 (reg. around CAD16, I can't remember), thought I could give it a try, at least for the cool name. I'm into red and dark red lip colours lately, as they show up better on my pigmented lips.

From the nail polish shelf, I saw this Nicole by OPI Black Cat-cha Later on clearance for CAD3.99 - the only shade at this price. It's a lovely dark burgundy shade, could join my dark Nicole army, lol.

And believe it or not, Shoppers does have GWPs, at least at this location I went to. Maybe because I was spending quite an amount of money (half of it was for the swap I am doing), the lady pulled out some stuff underneath the counter to give me as a gift :-)

And it was a bright red Puma shoulder bag and a sample tube of La Roche-Posay (another Canadian brand) Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, supposed to be for acne/ oily skin. Great to try!

I feel good as I gave Quo some attention with this trip to Shoppers (party thanks to the swap), as it probably deserves it. Shoppers could do a little more PR work for its home brand, as its product quality so far is not bad at all.

There were a few other Quo products on sale this week, so feel free to check them out. Words on twitter is that Shoppers is doing a "secret" x20 Pharmaprix Optimum points event tomorrow. You'll need to bring in this coupon. Note that it said Pharmaprix, so it might not be a nationa-wide but rather a province-wise event. Plesae check before you use it.

Nail polish little hauls

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I was on a mission trying to hunt down Annabelle fall shadow colours, so I went to 2 more Shoppers. Didn't find what I came for, but found something unexpected - discounted nail polishes :-)

First Shoppers, these polishes were on clearance for CAD3.99 each. There were quite a few in the bin, assorted brands, I tried my best to restrain myself and got 6 :-)

First row, from L-R: Nicole by OPI It's Up to You, It's Gold Outside and Let's Get Star-ted.

Second row: Borghese Magnifico Magenta and Gusto Gold Dust (from Holiday collection) and Sally Hansen Salon Mulberry.

These brands normally sell in the CAD8-10 range, so this was a steal. I tried to find swatches to justify my purchase but couldn't, except for Let's Get Star-ted and Gusto Gold Dust. The brands aren't very popular I guess. Please let me know if you have these colours and how you like them.

Second Shoppers (not on the same day, mind you, lol), these polishes were on sale too.

First row: Nicole by OPI Winter Glitterland and Faux Fir (from Holiday collection), CAD4 each.

Second row: Gosh Black Passion and Blue Monday (yes, it's a backup), CAD3 each.

Back at the beginning of the year, I saw Gosh polishes for CAD6, thought it was reduced price and hauled (obviously). Now they cost half of that, lol. Somehow I never saw Holographic though, it's like the most pretty shade from Gosh.

I'm so happy to have these new babies in my polish stash. New brands, new shades, sale, good combination :-)

The bf and I are invited to the Lunar New Year potluck party at a friend's tonight (so I will have to cook) while Squirt has a sleepover at her afterschool centre. It's gonna be busy. Have a fun weekend, ladies!

NOTD: Gosh Ocean

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Squirt and I spent Friday night at my friend's house, having a "sleepover". She just moved back from Calgary, so we had a lot to talk about. Squirt was busy with pizza, popcorn and "Ige Age 3", so it was a relaxing night for all :-) We went shopping yesterday morning, so I have a little haul to blog about soon.

When we got home, I went to change my nail polish right away, as I wanted something more fun for the weekend.

Gosh is a new brand to my nail polish stash, just because I always thought they are more expensive... until I found them for CAD6 a bottle.

I pick Ocean today, as I want something different than green. Golden Dragon is gorgeous, but I would save it for NOTD another time.

Love turquoise/ teal-ish colour and the foil like finish. The colour changes from light to dark depending on the angle the light hits the nails, which is quite fun.

The brush was a bit smaller than what I'm used to, and the cap is round, so it took a bit to make the polish work the way I wanted. But I'm happy with the final look :-)

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Gosh Army II

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It has been a while since I posted about my Gosh Army. Recently with the little purchase of 3 Gosh nail polishes at less than half the regular price (reg. CAD13 on for CAD6), I have been on the hunt for more.

Check out what I found at my local Shoppers last night.

The little polish display at this store had quite a collection of shades on sale. I got the most beautiful ones :-)

From L-R: Bright Passion (multi-coloured long thin flakes in sheer black base), Ocean (frost duochrome blue) and Golden Dragon (metallic deep green, almost duochrome). They are so awesome, you gotta see them IRL to appreciate their beauty :-)

The rest of the haul, I found at the clearance basket near the cashier in cosmetics area, CAD4 each, omg! Second row are the Effect Powders, from L-R: Aquatic, Emerald, Green Star and Green Fingers.

As I haven't owned any lip products from Gosh, I bought a Pearl Shine Lipstick in Daiquiri, a beautiful pinkish red, on the far left.

The other 2 lipsticks are from No7 - Moisture Drench Lipstick in Nectar (great red colour) and Stay Perfect Lipstick in Glace (pearly pink).

I certainly will be playing with these babies to see how they perform. The lady said Shoppers discountinues these. Don't know whether they are getting new product lines or not.

There were also eyeshadows at the table, but I already had a good amount of them. Saw the Dream Lash Mascara in the bunch too, but I didn't pick it up. Mascaras have a much shorter shelf life than other makeup products, so I didn't really want to get anymore before I finish what I have.

If you want to haul a few Gosh items, make your way to Shoppers, as they might be having a clearance basket as well :-) Good luck!

Boxing Week haul I

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I know I'm late for this post, as my main purpose of posting hauls is to let you know about good deals so you can get them if interested. I bought some stuff in the last few days, but jet lag has been killing me at night. I felt cold and sleepy right after dinner and had to go take a nap. One day I slept all the way through the morning, and last night I got up at 10pm. I'm not doing so well with adjusting this time :-)

Anyway, let's move on to the goodies.

First, I went to Walmart. This year they didn't have any crazy deals on makeup like last year, but they had all Christmas items 50% off. And what caught my eyes were gift sets and chocolates, lol. Well, I wouldn't need to explain the chocolate purchase, but gift sets are normally a better deal compared to individual purchases already, before any discount. So with half off, they are certainly a steal.

In the first pic, besides the chocolate, I have the eco bath set (CAD7.49 after discount) and Dr. Teals hand cream set (5 different scents, CAD4.99).

In this second pic is all Freeman sets. From top left, clock wise: Body set (wash, scrub, butter), Foot set (soak, scrub, balm), Organic facial set (cleanser, scrub, moisturizer) and Mask set. Except for the Organic set (CAD7.49), the other 3 sets were CAD4.99. The individual tube sold around CAD3 each, so the sets were an awesome deal.

The Walmart I visited had about 4 double-sided isles full of Christmas stuff with 50% off. Other than chocolate and gift sets, they had Christmas decorations and other gifts, if you want to get an early gift for someone's birthday :-)

At Shoppers, I couldn't find any Quo holiday gift sets, guess people went for them first on Boxing Day already.

Surprisingly though, I found a little display of Gosh nail polishes for CAD6 a bottle (reg. CAD13), couldn't help but getting 3 - from L-R: Blue Monday (gorgeous navy), Purple Heart (deep dark purple) and Gasoline (cheerful purple). There were about 7-8 shades on the display but I only picked the shimmery colours, didn't care for creams. And some chocolate at half price for Squirt.

Last stop for the day was Superstore. You might not think about it as a Boxing Week shopping destination, but it did have some fun deals.

I found a Goody hair accessory set (with combs, clips, ties) for CAD6.50 (after 50% discount), needed some combs, so I grabbed it.

The perfume section had some yellow tagged items with heavy discount, so I got Lolita Lempicka 50ml bottle for CAD17.50 ($52 off), and Jenifer Lopez Live Lux for CAD12.50 ($47 off), crazy huh?

The Lip Smacker set was also 50% off, came out CAD3.99, with 3 clipable lip blam tubes, and a container to carry them all for an outdoor trip. I found it kinda neat.

Some other items from the 50% off corner at Superstore.

A clear plastic traincase, paid CAD6.50, Chocolate Almond bath set CAD9.99, Sanctuary spa set CAD6.50 and Aveeno Body set CAD7.50.

I know that's quite a lot of gift sets, but I can't help it. I like to try out different products in the same line, smaller size is even better as I could finish them faster. I just need to ask the bf for some help to carry them all back to Halifax, as my luggage is full, lol.

I have a Sally haul and some small purchase at the mall but forgot to take pictures, so I'll post about them tomorrow. Have a lovely day everyone, the last day of 2009! Happy New Year all!

Gosh Army

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Ladies, say hello to my little Gosh Army from Shoppers, lol. I know I went overboard, but they were all 75% off, so I got 4 items for the price of one. With this price, I could afford a little more with this brand.

A few weeks back, I spotted the "Now or Never" shelf with Gosh and Quo items at 30% off and said I'd wait until they were 75% off, as I saw it happened before. And that time was this weekend, I was so excited to see the shelf was still full of stuff. And I can't help but grabbing an "army" while I can.

Gosh Eye shadows - singles don't have names, so I'm just gonna call them by numbers. From L-R, first row: 254 (black), 282 (purple-ish blue), 284 (green), 283 (yellow) (CAD3.25 each) and Natural Blush in Juicy Peach (CAD4).
Second row: Gosh Eye shadows - Duets Silver/Grey, Golden/Chocolate, Aqua/Mint and Apple/Lime (CAD3.25).
Third row: Gosh Effect powders - Blue Whale and Green Python (CAD3.25), Quo Optical Illusion foundation in Tan (CAD5.25).
To the right are Gosh Waterproof Eye shadow sticks in Love That Dolphin (blue), Love That Moss (olive), Love That Pink (pink, duh, lol) and Love That Cool Mint (green) (CAD3.50).

I can't wait to put these guys in action, the colours are gorgeous! There were Quo Cooling Gel Shadow pencils and shimmer eyeliner pots at 50% off, but I'm gonna wait on those. If they are gone before they put them on 75% off, I'm fine with that :-) Check your Shoppers to see whether these are on clearance.

And these colours are what I am rocking this weekend - China Glaze Golden Enchantment on top of China Glaze For Audrey. I like Golden Enchantment and its partner Fairy Dust, as they are fine glitters that add some jazz to the base polish. Too bad the effect doesn't show very well in the picture. I like chunky glitters once in a while too, I found they can brighten my mood. Unfortunately, I'll have to change back to a neutral/nude shade tonight. I always hate it when I have to remove the bright coloured polish on Sunday night, as they are not appropriate for work :-)

The weather was perfect today, hot but we still had the breeze so it was very pleasant sitting in the shade. We went to the park that looked down the water. While Squirt was busy at the playground, me and the bf sat on the bench looking at the waves and the boats sailing by. Very peaceful. So not ready to start a new week just yet! Are you?

Sale alert

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I was in Shoppers today checking out the Sun & Mon deals that I blogged about in the weekly flyer deals. Revlon Illuminance cream shadows were on for CAD5.99, best price I have seen for these palettes. But I have seen this price before, so I wasn't in a hurry to get them.

For Rimmel, the Eyeful Eye Glisteners were also on for CAD5.99. There were only 3 colours on the shelf though (no orange or purple), so I did a quick swatch on my hand. The colours were creamy and showed up well on the skin, especially the Standout shade (green). It was like lime green with gold undertone, which is pretty much my favorite colour on my eyelids. What made the deal even sweeter was the little display with 2-for-1 bonus packages, so I could get 2 pencils for CAD5.99 which are normally between CAD7-10 a piece. Not bad. The Cadbury chocolate was just to a sweet addition to the purchase: 4 for CAD5 instead of about CAD2 each regularly.

I personally have had pretty good luck with Rimmel. The first product I bought from this brand was the Eye Twists. Rimmel's website no longer features them, I guess they discontinued them already. I got all 6 shades that they came with. They basically are cream shadow in one end and eyeliner in the other end with complimentary shades of colours. When I'm short in time, I just swipe the cream shadow all over lid, as a wash colour, and use the liner on the lower lash line. Very convenient for travelling. Just 1 issue: the cream shadows do crease - just like the NYX pencils, so I have to make sure I prime the lids well before putting them on.

Other Rimmel products that I like include Glam Eyes mascara, Extreme Definition Two-Tone Eye Definers and Colour Rush Mono Special Effects shadows.

Note: I saw the "Now or Never" shelf again at Shoppers, full of Gosh products this time, but they were only 30% off. I don't know what's going on with the brand at Shoppers, as lots of products are still on the shelf with regular price, but some are shoved over to this discount shelf with red tags on. The ones I snagged last time were probably the last of the batch and therefore were 75% off. So keep an eye out for them at your Shoppers, if you are a fan of Gosh products. I saw cream foundation compacts, loose powder jars, glittery eyeliners, eye pencils, single and trio shadows, blushes, etc.

The find list this weekend would be short, ladies, as I flew out to Kingston (ON) this morning for a conference and wouldn't be doing any shopping for the day. I was kinda excited to find out there's a new Rexall Pharma Plus opening in Kingston this very weekend, but when I got here, they told me it was like more than an hour walk from here. There's no Pharma Plus where I live, so I can only go whenever I'm in Toronto or London (ON). Like I mentioned in my US Memorial Day sales post, I got most of my NYX stuff from Makeup Mix Shop. You can click on the link in that post, or click on the purple button on the top left hand side of my blog.

Saturday didn't actually start out right. I wanted to return the stuff I got from the Body Shop, as I said in last week's Weekend finds post when I found out the stuff is now sold for half the price I paid. They didn't let me return it, saying it was final sale. I was so pissed. I guess some stores really wanted to get rid of the stuff on sale and didn't want to take it back, but I felt being ripped off, as with the same amount of money, I could get double the amount with the current sale price. See, now all the makeup is on 3 for CAD15 (I know, I know, it's 3 for USD10, but here we have to pay a little extra. I'm pissed about that too) while they were only 30% off then - between CAD8-14. Lesson learned for me: Never jump on the first sale The Body Shop has.

As Zellers in the same mall, I just walked in to look around. Right at the door, they had all the Canada Day stuff on sale for 50% off. Look what I found. The moose pillow was CAD15 originally, and the neck pillow was CAD13. At half price, they aren't bad. I think they are cute and would be useful when me and Squirt fly home for my sis's wedding in December. She loved them too. It's gonna be a fight between us of who gotta use what on the plane :-) The pillows cheered me up a little, so I went ahead with my day, tried to forget about the "tragedy" at The Body Shop. There were a lot of stuff for Canada Day at the sale section, so if you are celebrating, grab some gear for cheap. They had T-shirts, hats, socks, aprons, can openers, etc. I won't be home to go see the fireworks with the bf and Squirt, a little sad. I normally take her to the park for "Teddy Bear picnic", have some pancakes and played around with face painting, music and stuff on Canada Day. It's fun to watch the fireworks, but it's always a pain trying to get out of the park afterward. We were in traffic for an hour before being able to move.

Here's what I got from Shoppers. Jergens Natural Glow was 50% off, so I got a Foaming Daily Moisturizer and a Firming Daily Moisturizer, on for CAD6.49 minus $3 from the coupons I linked in the Weekly Flyer deals post. Then I found something not advertised in the flyer. There was a plastic little shelf on the side of the cosmetic isle that said "Now or Never", and the little tag on it said 75% off Gosh, Quo and No7. Sadly, it was almost empty when I found it. I got the last Gosh Natural Blush in Juicy Peach for CAD4 (orginally CAD16) and a Gosh Duet Eye Shadow in Aqua/Mint CAD3.25 (originally CAD13). I never tried Gosh before (as their stuff is quite expensive), so I'm excited. There were a few coloured liners there but I wasn't interested. So check your Shoppers, they might still have some stuff left. Let me know if you found some good deals.

After I left the store, I found out that I had a GC from Shoppers that was going to expired the next day. I hated myself that I forgot to use it. So I went to the Shoppers closer to my place and found this at the clearance section. Physician Formula Mineral Glow Kit (Talc-free Mineral Wear) in Warming Glow. It has a Illuminating Veil and a Mineral Lip Sheen, originally CAD23.99 on for CAD9.99. There's another shade on the shelf too (Peachy Glow) but I don't think it'd work for my skin tone. There was no tester, so I'm not even sure the one I got works for me either. We'll see. Oh and the Highschool Musical lunchbox was for Squirt next school year, on for half price at CAD4.99. I didn't see anything in their "Now or Never" shelf, it was completely empty. Sad!

I'm in Kingston until Friday, will try to find some time to post during the week. Hope you all have a nice weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
