FOTD: Colour Pop & Gerard

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

It is the end of April, where is Spring still, anyone? Halifax welcomed its first cruise ship of the season on Monday with below 5 degree weather, and flurries!

Thought I have to record this "record breaking" (pun intended) phenomena on the blog somehow, to look back later. It sure is rare to have frozen lakes in May.

Anyway, it is the "YT made me buy it, despite the yucky weather" FOTD today, just for fun lol.

From Colour Pop Not a Box of Chocolate set, I used:
- Tinsel as transition
- Drift on the outer half of the lids and sheered out on the cheeks
Equally lovely, and I like it both ways.

I could not decide on just one shade Gerard Cosmetics Color Your Smile Lighted lip glosses so I wore both - Wild Orchid on the upper lip and Seduction on the lower lip, pressed together to mix the colours.

Other products used:
- Skindinavia primer and finishing sprays
- Hard Candy Glamoflauge foundation in Light Medium
- Cover Fx Conceal Fx Camouflage concealer in Light
- MUA Poptastic palette (the baby blue shade) and Heaven & Earth palette (brow bone highlight)
- Rimmel Scandal Eyes waterproof kohl kajal liner in Light Blue on the inner half of lower lash line
- Yves Rocher eye pencil in Copper Brown on outer half of lower lash line
- Milani Runway Lashes Instant Volume mascara in Black
- Wet n Wild Color Icon brow & eye liner in Dark Brown.

Have you switched your makeup and skin care to summer mode yet? For the reason stated above, I haven't and don't know when I will be lol.

Gerard lipstick and glosses

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I finally put in an order with Gerard Cosmetics when they posted a few discount codes and free international shipping, just to settle this curious mind of mine :)

I got the Just 4 You set, reg. $76, $39 after coupon, no extra shipping/ fees - worked out to be almost $10 a piece.

I chose 3 of the Color Your Smile Lighted lip glosses - Rose Hill, Wild Orchid and Seduction, and a lipstick - 1995 of course.

Here is the light up cap on the gloss (reg. $24). The wand is a little long, as with most glosses, so it takes a bit of work for precise application.

The lipstick has all gold packaging but the metal feels light and not as luxurious as its price tag suggests (reg. $19).

The quality is quite good for both lines. The glosses are not sticky but slightly tacky, good colour payoff. They claims to have collagen peptides and anti-aging ingredients, but I can't confirm that with a few wear.

The lipstick goes on smooth, with decent pigmentation. No particular scent detected.

Wear wise, I got a few hours with the glosses and they do transfer to my tea mug (I don't think they claim long lasting power anyway). The lipstick fared a little better.

Here are swatches of the 3 glosses - Rose Hill, Wild Orchid and Seduction, with 1995 lipstick underneath.

The colours stay true to what we see on the tubes. Seduction requires some layering for full coverage but smooths out well on the lips. 1995 is on trend but very close to my lip colour, only adds a hint of pink and brown.

Overall, I like these lipstick and glosses for the amount I paid but don't think they are much better than drugstore lip products. If you want to get some Gerard products to try, I would totally suggest doing that in a bundle during a sale :)

Check out the FOTD I did with Wild Orchid and Seduction together.
