NOTD: Mood Struck #4

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I have another mood mani to show you today. I'm behind on NOTD posts, as I change my nail polish faster than I blog, but hope you like it.

This is Mood Struck #4, not very far off from its friend Claire's Calm/ Wild Mood polish, and I like them both.

The mood effect isn't as strong as a few others I tried, but it's nice because the pink and purple kinda blend in to each other nicely. One minute it's pink and another it's purple :)

Wear is pretty decent, again I wore it about 2 days and changed, so I can't tell if it would last beyond that point.

Another shot of the mani. I tried to capture different stages of change. When I noticed a change, I ran to grab the camera to take pics :) It is really addictive!

I know Mood Struck isn't a widely available brand, and Claire's has slowed down with its mood colour release, so we have nothing new to pair our "mood" with.

Talking about that, I am still in a rut of emotions, going through a difficult stage of my life, so you will notice a slower frequency of posts on here. I don't want to sound like a broken record, so I'll leave it at that.

This probably shows you the gradient effect the best. I've been reaching to purple colours a lot for my nails lately, maybe because they made me feel better somehow. Do you find a colour that does that to you?

I have a few fun reviews coming up as soon as I could bring myself to finish up the posts. Squirt and I had a horrible time getting home after the gym last night. There was icy snow on the roads and the bus was detoured to avoid (our) hill. The walk up hill on slippery snow (with groceries in our hands) was not my favorite thing to do.

Anyway, I hope the pretty pictures make up for the depressing content in this post. And hope you stay safe and warm where you are.

NOTD: Mood Struck #7

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Phew, it has been a busy day today. I didn't dare to go to the mall but we went groceries shopping with the bf's parents. His mom has some "designated" stores in London where she likes to get meat and vegetables from, so we went on a trip. Hope everyone is finishing up Christmas shopping, so you can sit down and relax for the holiday.

This is a mani that I have been wearing to work a lot. Well, the colours are mild enough to not draw too much attention, and it's a mood colour which gives me the natural French mani look without the extra effort. Love it!

This is Mood Struck #7 (the last digit of its bar code, as there isn't any name) I got from a US swap. You can see the #10 shade in that post as well, also a nice work safe colour but  I prefer #7, as the cold colour (a peachy pink) is more visible.

You can see the natural French tips in this shot. As you could imagine, these mood nail polishes work better on long nails. I got a break on my index nail and had to chop it off, hence the tip colour hardly showed up on it but did very well on the other fingers.

The warm colour (a nude beige with a slightest tint of pink) was a bit boring, so I added Color Club Si Vous Please! on top - as I always have.

This would be a good holiday colour too, not close to red but festive enough. I wore it to the Christmas party at work last week :)

Another angle of the mani. I totally love how this shade turned out on the nails. If you have a chance to grab these, don't miss them. The colour changes are quite visible. It feels like I have 3 manis in 1. When I was outside in the cold, I have darker pink nails. When I was inside, my nails look like in the pics. And when I washed my hands with warm water, the whole nails turned nude beige :)

However, note that the wear of these Mood Strucks isn't as great. I get about a day and a half out of them each time, so if you are looking for long wearing nail colours, these won't be it.

My Glowing Beauty giveaway was closed last night. I'll announce the winner tomorrow. Stay tuned!

NOTD: Mood Struck #10

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I have recently done a swap with Karen at Frazzle and Aniploish for some awesome polishes that I have been lemming for since I saw her post.

These are the Mood Struck nail polishes that are only available from Meijer. Knowing the chance that I could walk in a Meijer store is very slim, I was very happy that Karen agreed to swap with me for them.

Here are the ones I got, from L-R: #4, #7, #9, #10 and #14. I adopted Karen's naming system (using the last 2 numbers in their barcodes), as there were no specific names for these babies.

The bottles are slim and long, only contain .25 fl oz/ 7ml, about half of the regular polish size.

And on top of that, I filled my Dollar Tree wish list with these shades from the LA Colors Craze collection (with hardeners, 2009).

If I found them in store myself, I'd sure come home with more than 4 bottles, but I restrained myself better with a swap, lol.

From L-R: Atomic, Live, Electrified and Transformer plus the 2 mini Claire's extras.

I appreciate the indivial packaging for the LA Colors bottles, as it keeps the polish inside untouched, plus the extra information about application and ingredients at the back, pretty in display too. However, when you remove the packaging for storage, the shade names go with it, and there're no name stickers on the bottles. It'd be hard to indentify the shades later on, if the collection grows. You know what I'm saying :)

And here's a NOTD for My very first... mood polish.

I picked #10 as it looks in the bottle as a pale beige colour with a hint of peach, almost like a duochrome, peaked my curiosity.

Here it is on my nails, with flash. Most of the nails would be in the beige colour, except for the free edge tips. As you knew before, I had a split nail on the middle finger and it's nubs at the moment after I tried to cut it off where it split. As a result, that nail doesn't show any peach colour, but the other four fingers in the picture has a very pretty peachy pink tips, very naturally looking. I love it!

Here are some more shots of the nails to show you the tips a little better. The sticker on the cap shows the 2 mood colours that the bottle delivers.

The gradient effect shows better in larger view, so feel free to click :) Application was easy, the colour is opague in 2 coats. The round narrow cap takes a bit of getting used to, but not too hard to maneuver. What do you think?
