Sparkled Beauty

I have been awarded with blog awards from lots of you lovely ladies. Sorry I wasn't doing a good job keeping up, but that doesn't mean I did not appreciate it. So thank you, again, for the love, I finally get around to posting these :)

This is the first double award I have received, from Playing with Polish, a Sunshine Award and a Happy 101 Award.



As you know me, I have a lot of blogs in my following list, to the point I won't be able to pick just a few favorites, lol, so I'm gonna skip the nomination part. Just look in my profile to see many wonderful blogs that I guarantee you will love. I don't know I can find more interesting facts about myself that I haven't told you about in previous award posts, so I would just ramble at the end :)

And coincidentally, I received the Lovely Blog Award from four lovely bloggers over at Polish Insomniac, Beauty Crazed, Cosmetically Curious and Beauty Burg. I must have done something right on the blog :) Really appreciate you all taking the time to send me this.

It is not sunny today here, but I'm feeling all warm and cozy, thanks to you and many more of my readers to stop by to read or comment on my posts. It is really heart warming. It is also Thanksgiving today in the US, so it suits the occasion that I say thanks to all of you.

I started this blog on the love of mineral pigments and thought that was the way to go. Look at the blog now a year and a half later, it is about all kinds of makeup, and nail polish. It is wonderful how you find new love along the journey, and of course find so many new friends too. I am very thankful!

I also appreciate my fellow bloggers who share my love of beauty, working hard on their blogs so that I could have awesome read everyday. I laugh with you in fun posts and my heart aches with you during your tough time. It's the love I didn't think exists before I dive in this community.

I also want to thank the companies that have been offering me review/ giveaway opportunities and lead me to many wonderful products to try out which I wouldn't have known otherwise.

I should stop before this post starts sounding like an Oscar speech lol. Just know that I love and appreciate each and every one of you.

I am supposed to state some random facts about myself. Don't know my life is that interesting, and as I did make an attempt before when I got the Kreativ Blogger Award, I'll try not to repeat myself, lol.

1. My favorite colour is yellow, but since I was exposed to the wonderful world of eyeshadows and nail polish, now I love lots of different colours. Don't know I even have a single favorite colour now.

2. I can't have my nails shorty short, or it hurts when I touch things or type. My nail bed stretches out quite far from the finger tips, that's why. But even with having long nails for such a long time, it took me so many years to start painting them. What a waste!

3. I love to smile, but life has not always been easy and I do frown. Sometimes I hate the fact that I couldn't smile. People said a smile equals 10 extra seconds of your life, so the more you smile, the longer you live :) We just don't smile enough, as adults.

4. I have 2 stuffies to sleep with every night. The bf got me a sheep a few years back, and I brought him to bed with me. The year after, he got me another one, bigger and fluffier. I couldn't abandon the first one, so they share the bed. Fair, right? Lol. Squirt has like 7 stuffies in bed all at once.

5. I have never coloured my hair in my life, it's always black. I always wanted to add some highlight to it just for a fun look under sunlight, but never have the courage to act on it, lol.

Ok, I give up after #5, lol. Told you I'm not that interesting. Thanks for reading :) I'm off to pick up Squirt from her Sparks sleepover. The weather is supposed to be nice today, or at least let's hope it would be.

The Oscar is fast approaching, and it's exciting this year with 10 great movies competing. I don't normally watch award shows, well I do mostly for makeup and dress viewing, but I probably would this year.

Euridice at Travel with Euridice sent me this Best Blog Award at the beginning of the month. Thanks so much. It feels good to know someone enjoys reading my blog. If you haven't been to her blog, please do.

As usual, I would not nominate any blog in particular, as all the blogs in my read list - makeup or nail - are excellent and fun. And the list keeps growing every day. Exciting!

Somebody recently stirred the blog world with arguments about the honesty/ dignity of bloggers vs. the media. I found it ridiculous and didn't read into it, as I don't see the need. They can just stop reading blogs, I don't really care. We write and have fun, that's what matters. And I know you would agree with me.

For a little personal update: I spent 3.5 hours in the ER last night trying to get my foot checked out. The clinic doctor suggested it, as at the ER, I could know the xray reading right away rather than waiting for more than a week if I went with an xray request at the lab. The wait was very hard, but I was glad to know nothing was broken. I got a description for some foot wrap to support my ankle from now on. We got home at 10:30. It was such a long night but at least now I don't have to worry about the ankle anymore. The doctor suggested a few more days off work to rest but I couldn't. So let's hope that's all you'd have to hear about my injury :-) Thank you all who cared and talked to me on twitter. You make my recovery a lot easier to endure.

I have been quite discouraged in the process of getting my money back since the post yesterday, but thought I should move on, as it was frustrating enough. Thank you for all your comments, and I'll post an update when I heard back from my credit card company.

It is snowing around here, woo hoo! Not really :-) I expected a few flurries flying in the air, not the heavy wet snow flying from all directions. We had to come back inside, changed to our snow boots and stood outside for an hour hoping for the bus to come. I live on a hill and the bus was rerouted to avoid steep rides while failed to let me know when I called.

Squirt made it to school 5 minutes late and me an hour late. Oh well, at least we made it :-)

I'll attempt a few things that might be slightly interesting about myself, lol:

1. I wore no eye makeup almost all my life until last summer, and now it's all I buy. I see my eye lids as a blank canvas and I could paint them the way I want (still need practice!). It isn't always the case with my face or lips.

2. I have no girlfriend around here who is into makeup to go shopping with. Squirt becomes my shopping pal for everything. She sometimes does have an opinion about colours that I should pick :-) I also drive my bf nuts for asking him to help me pick an item at the store that would look good on me.

3. My family lives way too far away from me and Squirt. There's always a bit of a void in my heart that needs to be filled with family love. I'm gonna get to see them in November, can't wait. I dread the long flights though.

4. I give everyone a hard time trying to pronounce my last name (blame my parents, lol). It was never a problem where I come from, lol. At least my first name is easy.

5. I got my license 2-3 years ago but never drive. I'm terrified of getting into an accident of some sort and hurting Squirt. Wish they built a skytrain system here, I could ride it everywhere.

6. Lots of people guess my age wrong (i.e. I look younger than I really am) which is a huge plus. Hate facing the age question, but it'll come as I can't fool them much longer when fine lines show up :-)

7. I love reading beauty blogs more than fashion magazines. I need to read more books though. In the last few years, I read more children's books (with Squirt) than books for myself. Good thing she can and loves to read now :-)

I promised Squirt a cat for a long time, have been looking around. We were very close to adopting one until the owner changed her mind and didn't want to give the cat away anymore. Squirt was disappointed. Keep looking, I guess.

I also twist the tag part, because to me, all of you readers make me smile by visitting this blog or leaving me a comment. I love it when my dashboard showing some comments to be published. It's not about stats, it's about feeling. It's great to feel that you care about what I have to say and want to share your advice/ thoughts with me. I have come to know many wonderful friends through this blog.
