Choose me some shoes

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Fashionistas, help me out here, will ya? I have been into boots this year, for some reason. I always steer away from them before, due to the crazy high heels they come with. I guess I have grown a passion with leggings, and then that linked to boots, lol.

Coming back from vacation, seeing whatever left after Boxing Week, I didn't see anything that sparked my interest. Browsing the web though, I found something. These cuties are from Spring, on sale, in my size.

The first pair is Kommer (yes, their shoes all have interesting names instead of just numbers), and the other pair is Madie, CAD60 on for CAD31.50 each. They are quite unique, in my opinion. Didn't see them in store, so the only place I could get them is online. Hate that shipping is only free with CAD49 orders though.

And this one is Lesidi, CAD70 down to CAD35. Nothing particularly amazing about it, just the suede look and the fold over that got me. What do you think about the style?

I'm not really excited about the discount though, shouldn't these shoes be on for at least 50% off. I remember Spring always has half off sale for Boxing week. Should I wait then?

The fact is I have bought some boots this winter (from Sirens, Suzy Shier and Winners), my guts tell me I wouldn't need any more. The problem is my mind though :-) I guess you guys can relate to that, exact same thing we experience with makeup.

We are already at midweek, can you believe that? Have you got used to writing "2010" instead of 2009 yet? :-) Anyway, come and share you favorite place to shop for shoes or your favorite style with me.

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

How did your weekend go? Me, I was hauling a few accessessories from different places. Please skip the post if you are not interested :-)

The 2 wide black elastic bells are from the day market, to pair with the bulky plaid shirts I bought before my trip. I like the shirt style but without a belt, they look huge on me :-)

I also jumped on the animal print train with a belt, love it! They even custom fit it for me. And I even found a pair of earrings to match it, lol. It was from a little Korean jewelry shop that my sis found. The owner handpicked the pieces herself on trips to Korea and shipped them back, so prices were more reasonable.

The other earrings on the right hand are white wired cubes, dangling style. I just thought they are cute to pair with a LBD. Click the picture to enlarge.

Also from the same shop, but with a Christmas sale offer a day or two later, we got some more earrings and necklaces - split between me and my sis.

I'm loving the fun designs of Korean jewelry, just for days that I need a little cheer-me-up push.

It's funny how easy a piece of jewelry could change our mood.

Purse and handbag. I was looking for a small purse that could fit my essentials without being too chunky to carry around, and found the red one. The 2 side pockets is a plus too.

I do love the current big bag trend, but I'm tiny to wear them myself. It's a shame if you can't see me, only see the bag I carry, lol.

The colourful knitted bag is from my mom. It's a little bigger than the purse but cute. Like the wooden handle and the colours on it. Very Asian looking, don't you think?

I got a few pairs of work pants and jeans. They fit me better over here (as I'm a shortie), and mom is great at fixing the length too. Still looking for some ripped up jeans, to keep up with the trend :-) Also found Daiso, a Japanese chain that offers everything for the same price (CAD2 level) but the variety can't beat what you guys have in the US. Didn't get anything.

My second pair of shoes I bought here. So sad that I couldn't find more that I liked. It's hot here, so most people wear flats and sandals.

These ones were nothing fancy, just what I had in mind. The heels weren't too high either, so I could wear them, lol.

For work shoes, I might have to do some boxing day shopping when I get back to Canada after Christmas.

I haven't bought any makeup on this vacation which is a surprised. I saw Etude, VoV, Boujois, The Face Shop but can't make up my mind, and pricing isn't that great. Have you got any great deals?

Korean jewelry haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I'm so on vacation in the last few days, i.e. I was eating well, playing around not doing much. I haven't been this relaxed for a long time. At the same time, I feel bad just sitting around.

Tonight before dinner, sis and I heard about a store (called Zaa Accessories) that had 50% off 3-day deal, so we headed out to check it out. I wasn't planning getting any more earrings, but found some cute pairs and didn't want to pass them up.

The store was really busy. After some hussling around, we brought home these babies.

They were all supposed to be from Korea, priced between CAD4 and CAD7 before discount. I believe I picked out all the cute pairs in store, lol.

My favorites are the black flower pair in the middle (glossy black flower pattern, with 2 rhinestoned circles and sticks on top) and the lamp pair on the far right (really reminded me of Aladdin). The necklace is a cute piece as well, could be wear long or double stranded for a neater look.

Check out this second picture for close up on the earrings.

It was funny I just complained that I found stuff not as cheap as they were before and didn't plan to buy much. It's compulsive buys that get me, lol.

After converting the price to CAD, I didn't feel too bad about this haul. Sis wanted the lamps, and the circles (first row, far left), mom liked the black flowers, and I could them all. I guess we would just share them among us.

Have you been getting anything fun lately?

Clothing stores' haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I was slowing down with posts in the last few days, as it has been quiet on the blog, and I am still strying to get used to the time change. I am taking advantage of this vacation food wise, as staying with mom means having good food on the table most of the time, not mentioning eating out. I am spoiled :-)

Shopping wise though, I haven't been inspired, mostly due to the fact that stuff isn't as cheap as I imagined anymore. Also, the night market where I got most of my stuff last trip home was moved far away, so I don't get to go anymore. It sucks.

The only thing I bought so far was this pair of pumps I needed for the wedding party. I wore a black strapless dress, so I guess the shoes would fit. They cost me less than CAD10, quite comfortable to wear, but the heels were a bit higher than I wanted :-)

I guess I could include some items I hauled in Halifax during one of the sale days at the mall before I left for vacation.

These suede purple boots are from Sirens, found at the clearance section for 50% off from CAD39.50 originally.

They are very comfortable to wear, lovely flower patter on the soles. As I mentioned before, purple kinda grew on me, as I have been wanting to get more purple items than ever before.

Now I just need to pair them up with a fun outfit, and I'm good with this weather.

Leggings, also at Sirens, were ranging between CAD12.50 and CAD14.50 each originally. I got them BOGO.

The first and last pairs had denim-wash-like prints on them, which I thought very cool. The black pair was lace, and the bronze pair has metallic look.

I have been wanting to get more leggings, and it was hard to stop at 4 pairs, I have to admit :-)

Moving on to Suzy Shier, I got this purple hand bag for 50% off (retails for CAD25).

Nothing really fancy about it, but I like the folding handle and the plies on the front. It's also very light weight, which is a plus, as I normally have to carry quite a bit of stuff in my bag.

This is a good alternative to the current black bag that I carry.

These glossy/ shiny boots were also 50% off from CAD35. I was lucky to find them at this store, as the one near my place didn't have anything on clearance at all.

This pair didn't fit in the trendy category, as it didn't have any studs or fancy zippers, just a regular/ normal style you can see everywhere. I like the strong frame of the bottoms, it makes the boots look very sturdy.

And black is more wearable, so I figure I could get some good use out of these.

Couldn't leave the store without some accessories, so I got a 2-strand necklace and hoop style earrings for CAD5. Didn't beat the 10 for $10 pricing at Claire's but Suzy Shier sometimes do have some fun looking jewelries to "diversify" my little stash.

I actually brought with me home a few similar items and surprised mom. You might have heard that people prefer gold/ silver/ white gold jewelry over here in Asia, but I didn't want to bother with high value stuff when I travel. I was more for a casual fun look this time.

Hope everyone had a good Monday. Don't forget to enter my Marcelle Classic Elegant giveaway which is going to be closed this Friday. And then, we can move on to the giveaway that I promised in my Balmshell review post.

Sally & Bluenotes haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I went in to Sally in the weekend. They didn't have any new China Glaze, except the Love You Snow Much collection which I already saw last time. However, there were these little gift sets from Orly that I think you would be interested.

The orange box is the Enchanted Duo, with Prima Gloss (prismatic top coat) and Enchanted Forest polish. The sticker on the top coat bottle said "Shake it up!", I think shaking would change the look of it, haven't tried. Enchanted Forest is a cream, doesn't come with the little charm that the single bottles have.

The red box is the Sparkle Kit, with Star Spangled and Tiara glitter polishes.

These colours are not new, but the price is really good. The sets are CAD7.49 each (with Sally card) with full sized bottles (.6oz/ 18ml). Considering the singles are sold at CAD5.99 each, this is a steal. They are my very first Orly bottles and I'm excited. I'm a little unsure about Enchanted Forest, as I suck at applying cream polishes, but I was curious about the top coat, so I got both sets. Have you seen these around? Do you like them?

Bluenotes store next door was having extra 50% off (red tagged items) and extra 20% the whole store for the day, so I bought some graphic Ts and plaid shirts. It's not easy to photograph them all, so I'm gonna use stock pictures to show you the deals.

The Keyhole Stripe Racerback Tank was CAD12.50, down to CAD5, and the "Just Hangin' Out Cupcaking" Tee was CAD5.80 (org. CAD14.50) as red tagged items.
The plaid shirts were 2 for CAD30 (org. CAD29.50 or CAD24.50 each), came out CAD12 each.

It was a fun trip, but short. It was raining and Squirt wanted to go home. She has to stay home today, and so do I. Hope your Monday goes well!

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

How's everyone's weekend? Mine was busy. Squirt wasn't feeling too well, but I had to do some last minute shopping for my family, so we were at the mall for an hour.

I got my sister a Fruits & Passion massage oil in Grapefruit - Guava for 40% off (the coupon is in my Weekly flyer deals post, still good until the end of the month). The little booklet in the picture is their Holiday catalogue.

I'm always a big fan of guava, both the fruit and how it smells. Adding grape fruit, itt smells so good. I was looking for a gift set with this scent (as gift sets are always of better value) but they didn't have any.

Urban Behaviour was having F&F, 50% off regular prices. I got 2 scarves, CAD5 each, really like the colours. They were the last one in their styles in store when I found them. Also found the very cute gold necklace with a golden flower, some pearl-like beads, for CAD6.50.

If you are looking for some cheap buys, the F&F sale is still going on until the end of the day tomorrow.

We ended the trip with a quick dinner at Salvatore, one of the best pizza places in town. They were celebrating the 15th anniversary, so the prices were brought back to 1994's ($3 less for pizzas and $1 less for almost everything else). I loved the idea :-)

Their pizzas had some intersting topping options I hadn't seen anywhere else. It was my first time there, so I was a bit adventurous. We got 2 specialty pizzas - the Clam Pie Marinato (which was full of chopped baby clams, basil and garlic, with cornmeal on the edge), and the Pizza Miguel (garlic, onion, mushroom). We found the garlic was a bit too much, and toppings were very generous. The bf said maybe less would be more in this case :-) I liked the food, but maybe next time we went for the originals, so we could pick our own toppings.

I spent some time getting the stuff I bought to bring home ready for packing. I'm a pack rat, buying stuff and put them somewhere then couldn't remember where when I needed it. It was frustrating, lol, and packing didn't go so well for that reason. Squirt still has a temperature, don't know whether I'll have to stay home tomorrow. So much to do, so little time!

Midweek musings

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Back to work after a day off, I felt like it was Monday all over again :-) Thought it would be fun to post up a few things I found on the web that I found very interesting. Everything I mention here is open for your interpretation :-)

I have always been amazed by the number of talented makeup artists on youtube, but what amazed me even more is this little girl - candyglitter1.

This video was what brought me to her the very first time, introduced by Beauty of the Earth.

She is only 11 years old and has so much potential in this industry that I can't even imagine. At 11, I didn't even touch a lip gloss yet, let alone doing a look like this. Would you wish yourself or your daughter could be this great at 11?

I know you would question the privacy and stuff on youtube for such a young girl like her. Her mom monitors her youtube account and all the correspondence on there. I think it's wonderful that she supports her daughter's passion for makeup and let her get on youtube. Wait until she becomes your age, lol.

On to food, introducing Burger King's Window 7 Whopper. Are you up for it?

And fashion!

You have probably seen these Bikini jeans around, but I thought it'd be funny to follow up after the whopper :-)

The idea was it's hip to wear low rise jeans, but then they are too low that we need to take care of the underwear showing issue. Then ta da, problem solved, 2-in-1 Bikini jeans.

What do you think?

Last but not least, Alexander McQueen's latest heels, for the shoe lovers out there. I think there's even a term for them: ballett heels! A whole different level from the ballett flats, I'm afraid, lol.

They are 12 inches high!!! Very pretty but I couldn't imagine how hard they are on your spine and feet. Still want to be a model after this?

Feel free to check out the artile on InStyle UK for more "inspiration" :-)

Hope I beat the "Thursday blues" with this post. You all have a good day!

H&M and Jimmy Choo

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

So everybody knows Jimmy Choo for H&M is launching November 14, right? Don't worry, this is not a PR post, just some thoughts about what'd be going on that day :-)

I was so excited that our very first H&M store was opened in August (on my birthday, to be exact). It is a drive to get there, but at least we have a store now.

And next Saturday, it gets even more exciting. Do you know what are waiting for you in store? Not only the gorgeous shoes and clothes, but this (direct quote from H&M website):

The first 160 people in line will receive a bracelet; on the bracelet you will be given a specific time for shopping in our designated area. The bracelets are only needed for the women’s shoes, bags and accessories. Customers shopping the men’s collection or the women’s garments will not require a bracelet.

If you are not one of the 160 first in line, you will of course have the opportunity to shop from the rest of the collection or within H&M. After about two hours we will also open up the designated area for all of our customers.

When your time has come, we will let you into the designated area to shop. Our goal is to create a better shopping experience for all of our customers. To make sure as many customers as possible are able to buy from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection, we have a limitation. Every customer can buy the whole collection but with a limitation of buying maximum one per product, i.e. not more than one size (shoes/garments) or piece (accessories) per product per customer. The limitation covers the whole Jimmy Choo for H&M Collection. Your place in line does not guarantee any items from the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection.

My very first time hearing about "timed shopping" and "quantity limitation". I guess Jimmy Choo is famous :-) Even better, I found out that the only store I have doesn't even get the goodies. The "selected stores" list only includes Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, lol. I guess it wasn't meant to be :-)

So have fun, the lucky ladies who live in the above 3 cities. Are you going to be one of the first 160? Or are you waiting for the public opening after the first 2 hours?

Payless & Danier haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Ok, it's officially under 0 this morning. The forecast said -1. Brrrhhhh!

Some of you guys mentioned you will be going to Payless today, so I thought I should get this post up early, for the extra info you might need.

First thing first, I called all 3 Payless stores I have around here, and none had the Christian Siriano line. I don't think Canada has it yet.

Second, the discount applies to your entire order, on the last ticketed price. Make sure you checked when they ring in what you buy though, as 2 of my items showed higher price in the system. Go early, as the selection in your size might be gone fast.

Third, I found some huge price difference between Canada and US, so check first before you go :-) Like this Airwalk Regan Flat Boot. It was originally CAD74.99, on sale for CAD59.99. I tried it on at the store, so I certainly remember the price. The US website has it for $39.99. Hmm...

So here're what we got from last night. The prices are before the 50% discount.

These are for Squirt, as I didn't find anything in my size that I really liked.

- Airwalk Pine Boots in black, CAD39.99 on sale for CAD32.99.
The boots were selling pretty fast, and again not all sizes were there. I had to get them 1 size larger.

- Smart Fit flower sandals, CAD17.99 sold for CAD7.
I know they aren't really in season over here, but would be just right at home in December :-)

I got a few accessories for myself.
- Sunglasses, medium size with some studded "jewels" on the sides, CAD12.99 selling CAD6
- Crinkle scarf in grey and black, discounted from CAD16.99 to CAD9.99
- Grey tights CAD7.99, and
- Dark brown wallet, CAD16.99 selling for CAD9.99.

They had some nice handbags too but none came home with me :-)

Saw some ballet stuff (tights, shoes, etc.) there too. I'd never think to find it in Payless.

At Danier, I only got 1 thing. Darn, real leather isn't cheap.

Found this really cute croco embossed leather clutch on sale for CAD99.99 (org. CAD169.99), before the 25% discount. The pattern is very cute, enlarge the picture to see it. It came with a long shoulder strap as well, but I'd probably just wear it without the strap, cuter that way.

When I came home, I went on the website just to see what other colours this bag had. Was very surprised too see it was only CAD69.99 on there. Danier doesn't have online shopping, the website was for info only, so I'll have to call them to clarify this.

Do come back and tell me what you get at Payless, I'd love to hear about it. Don't forget to print the coupon.

Payless Shoes 50% off

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Hot off the press, everyone!!!

Courtesy of Oprah, there is 50% off coupon provided on her website for everything at Payless (footwear, accessories, including the Christian Siriano collection) in US, Canada, Guam and Saipan, for today and tomorrow only.

Print your coupon and bring to the store, or for US - you can text to get the coupon code on your cell phone. So many good offer this time of year.

The Siriano collection is only available at selected stores. I couldn't find out which ones have it though.

Anyway, have fun shopping guys!

Danier handbags 25% sale

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Just wanted to get this post up real quick so you can get the details in time.

Danier might be where I'm heading today after work, not the gym, due to this fun deal they have, today only!

All handbags are 25% off on lowest ticketed price (which mean all, regular priced and clearance items), with this coupon.

I bet lots of ladies (and gents) are already in store browing the selection. I'll just have to be a late one, we'll see whether I can find a good bag to come home with.

I like the look of their handbags, just can't really afford the full price, considering I don't carry handbags often enough. With this sale, I might as well score myself a good one.

Are you going to be there too?

The Children's Place deal

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

This is non-makeup related and only for those of you who have kids, lol.

We were at the mall last weekend and saw The Children's Place having extra 50% off all clearance items, so I wanted to take a look for a few things for Squirt.

There was a coupple leaving the store as we walked in, and they asked me whether I was going to spend $50 that day. Turned out they got that coupon "save $25 with $50 purchase" after spending $50 in store and didn't think they would use it. So they offered it to me. Omg, I couldn't thank them enough. With this coupon, the deal would be similar to 75% off clearance items and 50% off regular priced ones. How lucky was I?

About half an hour later, we left the store with:
- 4 pairs of pants (reg. CAD24.50, paid CAD5.50 each)
- 2 skirts (CAD16.50, paid CAD3 each), and
- 1 dress (CAD16.50, paid CAD4.50)
Total: CAD36 (taxes in). Squirt was one happy little kid, and I was one happy mommy :-)

So for you guys who have a kid (or kids) to shop for, check out the store. It might be too much to spend (ultimately, you have to spend $100 in total for a saving of $25), but the extra 50% off on clearance items is a good deal on its own, right? I didn't recall seeing the coupon deal posted on their website, so I was taken by surprise.

Note: the coupon is only good until the end of the month.

Winners - Clothes and shoes

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I went to Winners yesterday to check out its Beauty event. I had to leave a few things on hold at Customer Service, as the store was closing on me, so the post of beauty items will have to be tomorrow.

Today is the clothes and shoes that I got from a few trips to Winners to take advantage of the Loulou Magazine's 5th Anniversary Buy $100 get $20 Winners Gift Card coupons. They expire tomorrow, just so you know if you plan to use it.

Note: This post serves the purpose of showing you what you could find from Winners' racks for good deal (hence the price mentioned), not to brag about my purchases. If you are not interested in hauls, please do not continue.

This is a La Belle LBD with a $29.99 price tag. Very simple cut but elegant and fits me well. I like the little shiny metal pieces on the straps, brightens up the top part of the dress. There are criss cross details at the front, but they don't photograph well.

I wasn't feeling much of this piece until I tried it on. Felt like it was tailored just for me :-) Even the bf gave me his seal of approval on it.

It feels kinda funny buying dresses of this style as fall is approaching, but I figured I could wear them when I go home this Christmas, or save them till next Spring/ Summer.

There were more sweater dresses on the racks at this time of year obviously, but you never know what you can find at Winners. And I liked what I found this time :-)

This dress is from Faith Connexion, I found at the Clearance section - $139.99 down to $70. 3 flirty layers, a little bow at the front, lace-trimmed neck line, adjustable straps, knee-length.

To be honest, despite the cute look of this dress, I found it hard to justify a $70 purchase. Call me cheap (or frugal, lol), but I don't wear dresses often enough to make good use of the money spent.

I don't party much, and most of my girlfriends have moved away for work after we finished school. Do I need to make up occasions to wear this dress? Or do I just return it? Tough choice!

What do you think, ladies? Advice is appreciated!

This Solitaire fluffy/ furry sweater also had a red tag on - $39.99 down to $29. The one and only of this style and colour, and it was my size. How cool was that?

This item comes in black and dark brown, but the black looks a lot better, so I don't mind the repetition of colour here.

I like the extremely soft feel to the touch of the material (can't say exactly what it is), and what I like even more was the little snug at the waist with a different elastic material. It looks like a belt in the picture, but a belt could have damaged the material for sure.

I feel warm wearing this sweater (of course), but feel slim as well, which is always a plus.

This one is Calvin Klein, $79.99 down to $59. It's a knee-length pencil dress but I wanted to show a close up so you can see the details at the top.

It was a soft mesh material at the top half, buttoned-up with 2 straps that you could tie a bow at the neck. It comes with a silk-like cami underneath. Totally work appropriate.

The dress doesn't come in any other colours, so I had to go with black once again.

Now this is a winter item - Charlotte Russe jacket, on for $69.99.

I love how warm this jacket feels, which is the first sell point for me. The fabric is great, zipper in front with metal buttons ran along the side. 2 pockets at both side of the upper part near the shoulders. 2 side pockets at the bottom, as in any other winter jackets.

Another sell point on this one for me is the belt at the waist with the same fabric. It even has 2 adjustment levels for better fit. I'm not a tall girl, so I like to show a bit of waist to make me look slim but not small - same concept as the sweater above.

There was a good selection of winter jackets at Winners now, I was quite happy. Had a hard time picking between this one and another sleek looking jacket.

Now on to shoes!
I love the trend of metal-studded shoes and boots this fall, but have a hard time finding the right height for the heels.

Well, until now. This pair is Steve Madden, sold at $79.99, and it's my size. Surprise find, actually.

The price did put me off a little, as I think boots are seasonal items and don't get year-round wear. But I couldn't resist the charm of the studs, the 3 metal buckles that wrap around the legs. The heels are perfect. And the feel, omg. They are so comfortable to wear. The material inside felt like fine fleece, so soft.

Please let me know what you think about these boots. Did I make a good decision to splurge (well to me it's a splurge)? Or I'd be better off to go shopping in the US for great Steve Madden stuff?

Now we're talking colour!!! I went bold with this pair, The brand is Diba (I'm not familiar with this brand), $39.99.

I never have this kind of red in my shoe closet, and I wouldn't know how to pair it up with my clothes, but there were only 4 pairs left and 1 was in my size. I couldn't walk away.

The style is in black as well, but red is so much better, shiner, sexier and bolder (if that's even a word, lol). The little zipper on the side is too cute, not mentioning the fold details at the front.

I love the look of these booties, the heels would kill me a little to walk on but I'll survive, won't I?

That's it for the first part of Winners haul. Feel free to comment, as I'm a novice in fashion.

Suzy Shier & Claire's haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

So, I went to the mall Friday night checking out the sales.

Suzy Shier first, as 30% off was promising. I did find the 2 tops that I posted in the sale info post, but I didn't like how they looked on me. The material was odd too. Booo...

I turned to the jewelry section instead, found 4 items. The 2 for CAD5 deal was still on, before
discount of course. Cheap! :-)

Squirt actually found the butterfly necklace, the last one on the shelf. I was glad she did, lol. She shops with me often enough and likes to pick out stuff for me. The butterfly is very pretty, with some glossy dots on the wings.

And then, we passed by Claire's and the 10 for $10 sign was up again. Darn, I could never resist this kind of deal they offer.

For the first time ever, they had nail polishes in the sale bins. I was so excited, as I don't own any Claire's polishes.

From L-R:
- Julius, orange with fine gold glitters
- Morning in Malibu, a shimmery red
- Sparkle, forest green glitters in clear base, and
- I ♥ USA with red, white and blue stars in clear base.
The wooden letter A with zebra prints is the picture clip/holder. It's my inital, and I like animal prints :-)

For earrings, I scored great this time as well.

Found more thread earrings, more colours. My sis already reserves the red/orange pair, as it's small, fits her face shape better.

The 2 items on the lower right hand side are rings - a sea green flower and a metal butterfly. So glad I found them in my size (smallest size they have) as this size is not easy to find normally.

Squirt also scored a few Halloween and princess earrings, hair clips, sunglasses and an iCarly notebook that she wanted to use for her journal/diary. For $1 a piece, we were 2 happy clams.

Squirt and the bf went skating this morning, I opted out and slept in instead :-) We'll probably head out to Swiss Chalet for Thanksgiving dinner tonight - as I hate to cook a big turkey just for 3 of us. Wish our families live closer.

Anyway, hope you enjoy a great Thanksgiving with your loved ones. For those who aren't Canadians, have a great weekend!

Suzy Shier & Bluenotes sale

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Guys, this is the best time to go buy some new clothes/ shoes/ accessories and I'll tell you why.

Suzy Shier is having a Thanksgiving shopping party until October 12 (in store and online). Everything is 20% off, plus extra 10% off with your Prestige Card.

Besides all the new fall items (cute coats, handbags, etc.), there is still extra 50% off on clearance (red tagged) items, so I would be quite busy. Hoping I can score as well as last F&F sale, with the same savings.

Note: For online shopping, shipping is free with $75 orders. And if you don't already own a Prestige Card (which normally costs $25), here is a free Prestige Card coupon for this weekend only, courtesy of SmartCanucks.ca.

A few items from the website. What do you think?

Bluenotes also has a sale: 35% off your order, online only with code "SPC35OFF", for the same period of time. Plus the Thanksgiving offer of free shipping, and a free leather bracelet for each order.

Their website offers BOGO 1/2 on Jeans, and the clearance section (50% off), thought I should mention :-)

Have a good week, everyone. Don't forget to enter my Harajuku Lovers giveaway, opens for Canadians.

The Beautiful Life: TBL

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I am having a little break from beauty posts, so how about TV shows and supermodels? LoL.

I was flipping through channels last night and saw something interesting - cute girls with fun makeup and clothes, and some fancy looking guys, lol. It was The Beautiful Life: TBL.

Surprisingly I never heard of this show which was premiered last Wednesday (I obviously missed it). I was never interested in the modelling world (so much drama and competition) but I like to see makeup looks they pull on the models. So, here's the rundown of the show:

- The cast: Mischa Barton, Sara Paxton and Elle Macpherson. These women could certainly fill the shoes of supermodels in the show. And then there was Corbin Bleu, all grown up (I was so surprised). I wasn't feeling much for the 2 male models, but all in all a cute little group. Oh, and Ashton Kutcher was the executive producer :-)

- The clothes: I'm not big in fashion and never shopped at brand name stores, so this was like a treat to the eyes to see what the models wore for daily life, not just on the catwalk. Remember "Devil Wears Prada"?

- The makeup: I haven't seen enough yet, but I like this look on Mischa when she did the photo shoot in the episode I watched. Lots of smoky eyes on the other 2 girls too, I have to say.

- Media promotion: The show is on CW in the US, I watched it on ASN here. It was originally promoted on Ashton's twitter account. I did hear about some pictures of semi-naked actors and actresses on twitter, thought they were supporting PETA :-) CW's videos aren't available for viewers outside US, so I'm still missing the premier episode. Urggghhh....

Talking about this show reminds me of a great show that I missed a while back: Blush - The Search For the Next Great Makeup Artist. Lifetime had some pictures and intro, if you want to know more. I saw some reruns and the finale and was beating myself up for not watching it from the beginning. It was fun and inspiring. I'm wondering they will do the show again this year.

What have you been watching lately that is fun? Any recommendation?

Spring Shoes accessories

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

So summer has officially left the building as today is the first day of fall. While some folks in the US complain about the heat still, on the east coast we are enduring a crazy weather, winter-style kinda chill early in the mornings and late evenings. I have no idea how to dress properly for it.

In the weekend, I was at the mall. Micmac was really busy for some reason. Most stores were trying to get rid of the last batch of their summer release or to introduce new fall collections, so there were sales, obviously. I didn't buy much though.

A quick stop at Spring Shoes to check out their shoes, but I found a little sign said "extra 50% off on clearance items", so I looked, and found:

3-pack Hildebrandt knee highs originally CAD11.99, the red sticker said CAD7, paid CAD3.50.
2-pack Marseglia knee highs CAD6 (originally CAD9.99) - 1 pair with pom poms, 1 pair with lacy stringy decorative details. Paid CAD3.
The Huprich watch has black metallic look, cute details on the face, CAD14.98 (originally CAD19.99), cost me CAD7.50.
Purple gold Riblett earrings CAD6 (originally CAD7.99), came out CAD3. There were more colours on the website, but this purple was the last pair I found in store.

I hoping to pull out the boots soon, as I dreaded wearing heels in this city and have tried to put it off for a while. What is your style for fall? What are you wearing?

Weekend finds

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

My trip to Walmart in the weekend was more than just for a WetnWild bottle of Shield. I got some shoes but didn't think they fit in with yesterday's post, so here they are today.

It's the end-of-summer sale at Walmart's shoes department. Lots of shoes, sandals and flip flops are on clearance.

I have to admit I'm not very good walking in heels. I'm loving the look of trendy studded gladiators or slouchy boots this fall but their heels are way too much for me, so I haven't bought any shoes for a while.

These are a lot easier on the feet and they are cheap (CAD5 a pair)!

The plaid pair has a bit of heels with fabric material. The other 2 are flat. The beige/lighter brown pair has fuzzy surface with little multi-coloured gems on the thongs. The darker brown pair has glossy flower patterns, and the woven thongs. I had a hard time eliminating any of them, and the bf suggested to get them all :-)

The blue shoes (CAD5) are my favorite find of the night. They look darker IRL, more wearable navy blue. The printed blue pattern on the platforms is so cute, and the height is just right for me. I was lucky to find my size among the last 2 pairs on the shelf.

The black sandals (CAD9) have wrap-around straps and embroided white flower petals. I could imagine myself rocking this pair at the beach at home this December already, lol.

I got Squirt a pair of Strawberry Shortcake water shoes (CAD5 as well), as she didnt like walking bare feet at the lake last weekend.

I'm a big fan of summer-end shoe clearance at Walmart, as with the price the way it is, I could have a few pair to switch around with. Any unworn pairs would be saved for next year, lol.

Have you bought any great shoes lately?
