NOTDs: Rainbow Honey Final Battle

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Happy New Year's Eve to those who celebrates! I am super nostalgic today, but also in a festive mood. So let me show you festive nails :)

This is Rainbow Honey Hellfire from the Final Battle collection (Fall 2013).

A perfect "Party in Asia" nail colour because of the gold and red (among other colours), very appropriate for the occasion today. The gold glitters are super reflective, especially under yellow lights. If I were out partying tonight (which I am not), these nails would be handy.

I did two coats of Hellfire, it shows great glitter intensity. Also great glitter shape combination - stars, bars, small and large squares, and they equally disperse on the nails. You don't know what shapes you will get on your nails until all the layering is done :)

The clear base makes it a good glitter top coat on top of almost every colour. Here I chose a pale pink nude, la couleur couture 1992, 2 coats.

And if you already celebrated New Year at the beginning of the year (hah!), I have something equally fun for you - Rainbow Honey Lifestream, from the same collection.

The mint fever is definitely not over, cause I am so in love with this combination.

Lifestream houses mint and white glitters in its clear base, and it is natural that I layer it over a mint base - la couleur couture 1968, 2 coats each.

On my middle finger is Lifestream by itself, it is transparent, ethereal looking. If you layer it over a sheer nude base, you would have very eye-catching mannequin hands :)

The small bottle size of Rainbow Honey shades (5ml) is for samples only, provided by Nailpolish Canada for review. The full size (15ml) retails $11.50, with free shipping on all Canadian orders.

Don't party too hard tonight (or this weekend), but do wear something red (or festive). Have a great new year, everyone!

NOTD: Hard Candy Pop Rocker

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

You know that I could not wait to dive in the "pool" of new Hard Candy nail polish I got in the Weekend finds post yesterday.

Featured today is Hard Candy Pop Rocker, one of the new Candy Sprinkles shades. To me, Pop Rocker is the most unique, thanks to the red bar glitters being in the mix with black bars and multiple white hexa sizes.

I went for a subtle look with this mani for work, but I was itching to try it over an orange, a Halloween-inspired look anyone? I know this type of glitter mix is not for everyone, but I dig it.

Application of Pop Rocker works best with dabbing motion, as you might have guessed. I swirled the brush around in the bottle to pick up more glitters, then deposited the polish on the nail before slightly spreading the glitters out. Repeat when necessary. Take advantage of the whole brush, not just the tip, to get glitters on.

The base is La Couleur Couture 1992, a very pale pink, only a tiny bit more pink than my natural nail colour. This is 2 coats, not fully opaque but works for the purpose of this mani. It gives a delicate vibe, doesn't it?

A closeup view of the glitters. See how the red bars stand out on top of the white hexa shapes? Maybe if Hard Candy replaces white with orange, or makes the base orange instead of clear, Pop Rocker would definitely be a Halloween polish :)

Yeah, I have Halloween spirit a little early. I can't help it with the low temperature September offers us this year. It was 4 degrees/ 39F this morning :) Winter has taken over!

On a more positive note, 3 local Target locations open today. I am waiting for my Target card to get here so I can get some saving on. What do you think about Target Canada and what they offer us Canadians?

NOTDs: Claire's Flashing Lights

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I have worn this nail polish 3 times since I showed it in the Weekend finds post 2 weeks ago. Couldn't help it, it was so much fun :)

This is Claire's Splatter nail polish in Flashing Lights with beautiful mini/ medium/ large hexa and bar sky blue glitters, in the mix with small hexa white glitters.

I have fallen off indie nail polish because of shipping cost, was glad to see the Splatter line at Claire's. 7-8 shades to test the water (I heard there might be more coming), with fun colour combinations.

Since Flashing Lights has a clear base, I experimented it on top of different colours, options become endless :)

The base in the first pic is La Couleur Couture (lacc) 2011, a soft butter yellow with fine shimmers. The brand is based in Vancouver, I'll have more NOTDs of it up soon.

The second base on the left here is Sinful Colors Show Me The Way, an olive green that flashes old gold.

Both were done with 2 coats, not fully opaque to show the glitters in depth.

Check out the closeups below, 2 manis side by side and the gorgeousness of the glitters inside the bottle! I love this blue, I really do. Don't mind my nail shape and length, crappy post move condition :)

Which base do you like better? What would you pair Flashing Lights with?
