Marcelle Power Volume Mascara review

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I'm back from the Halloween "insomnia" with a review. This is the latest product in the mascara line up from Marcelle: the Power Volume mascara.

First off, the packaging is a simple sleek black, nothing fancy, but it works for me.

The brush, again, has slight cone shape, straight, no curves, no twist. When I pull it out of the tube, the amount of mascara on it is just right, not overflowing or clumpy, enough for both eyes - unless you are going for a dramatic/ night look.

The mascara claims to thicken lashes by wrapping each lash and adding volume at the same time. Let's see what it does for me.

In the pictures below, the eye on your right is without mascara (2 light coats), and the eye on the left is with the Power Volume mascara. I think it's easier to see that way than the before and after pics.

You all know that I have lashes that just stick straight out and down. Eyelash curler hardly does anything for them. We are just going to look at the volume and length, as that's what the mascara promises.

To my lashes, it did add volume, as the lashes on the left look fuller and more visble than those on the right.

I'm happy to see no clumping, so smearing during the day also, but can't say my lashes looked longer. One thing to note about this mascara: it is quite wet after application. You gotta leave it alone for a minute or two so it could dry and stay put.

None of the mascaras I have been using is this wet, so it took a bit to get used to, but it doesn't bother me. Also there is a light chemical scent when you first use it, but fades quickly.

Here's a another viewpoint to show you the 360 degrees of the lashes with mascara on, lol.

To summary, this is a good daily mascara if you are looking for volume, just as the name suggests.

Ingredients: Water, Paraffin, Stearic Acid, Cera Carnauba (Carnauba wax), Triethanolamine, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Cholesterol, Nylon-12, Cetyl Esters, Nylon-6, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Panthenol, Glycerin, etc. Note that there are a few types of parabens at the end of the ingredient list.

This mascara is hypoallergenic, perfume-free and perfect for sensitive eyes, available in 3 colours (black, navy and dark brown), suggested retail price: $11.95. Right now there is a coupon on the website for $1 off.

  2. Very interesting! I love your thorough review! I'm not a huge fan of "wet" applying mascara but I really like the look this gave your lashes! I might have to give it a try! :)

Shaylee, thank you hun. If you try it, let me know how it goes.

FunnyFaceBeauty, I don't think I have Buxom around here, but thanks for the rec.

Madison, thank for stopping by. Yes, heated curler might be the only solution for me :)

  6. I like the comparison~
But if its that wet, I already know its not for me. That would completely undo the curler before hand, and would make my eyelash life a mess.
But meh, I've accepted that I will forever be on the look out for a new mascara. After breaking up with Stiletto, its been a tough road...lol

  7. Rasilla, for me, wet or not, the curls aren't just there lol. But I do like how it intensifies the lashes, which I need.
