It's rainy today lol, the weather definitely can't make up its mind. Thought I should bring you some sunshine and warmth. My latest possession: Joe Fresh Pineapple.
The name suits it, doesn't it? It's more summer-y than spring-y, I know, but Joe Fresh releases it in the Spring collection. Very interesting choice of colours across the board this year. Spring 1 has a few dark shades, Spring 2 is all bright and cheerful, and Spring 3 is back to pastels. They got all bases covered.
Yellow was my favorite colour before I started to dive into the nail polish world. I learned to love a lot more colours, and have to admit that yellow isn't very flattering on my skin tone.
The shade is closer to IRL in this pic, but it's still very bright and at certain angle, it makes my skin look darker. Pineapple would look absolutely lovely on those of you with fairer skin, I could tell.
As with most yellow nail polish, Pineapple goes on a bit streaky and sheer with first coat but even out soon enough. I wear 3 coats here, just for reference. With darker shades from Joe Fresh, I only wore 1 or 2 coats. That's a trade off with bright colours, I guess.
All in all, I'm not sure this shade is a winner to me. Would love to see it on others before I can make up my mind about it. So far, I haven't seen many swatches of Joe Fresh Spring colours. Get on it, ladies, so I know what to get next :)
And as a crackle fanatic would do, I cracked Pineapple with P2 Black Explosion. It looks a lot more subtle now, which I like better.
Sorry the pic is a little blurry but it was the only one I could take of the mani before the camera's battery went dead. I found crackling is the best way to wear bright/ neon colours if you don't want it to be too in-the-face. I even wore it to work, well on a casual Friday, but still :)
Hope this post is a light read, after a long and heavy post yesterday about Annabelle 4Show eyeshadows. I am wearing the quads in the last few days, so far Vivid-Eye is winning in terms of colour combination. Still can't beat the Smoothies pencils for wear, but at this point, I'd doubt that any shadows would be able to beat them. Have a good day!

Very bright and yes, I agree, summer-y!
ReplyDeleteNow that is an unusual color - but nice. This new collections is very good. Love the crackle topcoat.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color, it looks great with the crackle.
ReplyDeleteI bought Twilight & Mallord Green based on your swatches. I love them both but they're definitely not Spring shades. I should have picked up Iris aswell!
ReplyDeleteWoo that is a yellow for sure. My favorite color is yellow but I've never tried an opaque yellow polish like that before! My skin tone is pretty light so I don't know how it'd work, maybe I'll try it this summer with a tan :)
ReplyDeleteKaren, I will probably wait a month or two before wearing it again :)
ReplyDeleteLacquer Ware for Tips and Toes, and Love B, thank you :) I'm loving the collection, so much to try
Ashley, yay, you won't regret buying those 2. I did pick up Iris, hoping it wears well
Whitney, it's hard to find an opaque yellow. This one needs 3 coats :) I'm very curious if it looks good with your light skin tone
This is a really pretty color... reminds of mustard more than pineapples lol. Gorgeous though.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's the colour on the pineapple skin, not the flesh lol :)
