Annabelle/ Marcelle goodies

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Over Christmas, when I was away for vacation, the Annabelle Santa brought me a little package of goodies. I was so excited to see what was inside.

Santa remembered that I have combination/ oily skin and took care of me so well by bringing me Marcelle Oil Free Matte Finish Make-up.

The foundation applies easily on top of a primer (I always put on primer before any foundation), mattifies my face well and stays put during the day. It's water-based, oil free, hypo-allergenic, so I didn't have any problem using it on my acne prone skin. I still need to use concealer for my old acne scars, as this foundation provides medium coverage.

The shade chosen was Almond, a light beige with a hint of pink undertone. Unfortunately, it is a little lighter than my medium skin tone, as shown in the blended-out swatch next to the product swatch (I don't know whether you can see it with the flash). I mixed a bit of a darker foundation with this shade and it worked out fine. All in all, this is a good foundation and it does give you what it promises to give.

Santa also brought me 2 lip products that I was so excited to try.

On the left is Marcelle Lux Gloss in Starlette, a gorgeous metallic/ frosty pink.

I love the finish on this gloss, it doesn't feel sticky or heavy, applies like a dream on the lips. It makes my lips look fuller which I appreciate. According to the website, the Vita-Lip complex in the ingredients promotes collagen production and helps hydration, which we all want in a lip product.

On the right is Annabelle Le Gloss Stick in Red Rage, a corally red that surprisingly gives me a MLBB colour (as my lips are pigmented). This is a very comfortable red that is safe for work. And the pigmentation is just pure awesome! As the name suggests, this is a lipstick with the smooth application and shine of a lip gloss. Love the idea, and it works.

The swatches might be a bit deceptive because of the flash, but none of these 2 products have any glitters, just the shimmer and shine. I couldn't bring myself to swipping off the swatches, as they looked too pretty on my hand, lol. I think I found 2 new favorite lip products to carry in my purse.

I am thankful for the opportunity to try out products that I had overlooked from the cosmetics isle. The review is my honest opinion, hope you like it. If you have tried any of these products, feel free to let me know how they worked out for you.

  3. Lisa, I know, right? Love!

Gaby, very well said. I normally complains about Canadian brands that aren't reaching out to their cusstomers, but Annabelle has been doing so well in this aspect.
