NOTD: Klean Colors and Icing

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

The rain returns today after the weekend of some decent weather. This summer has been horrible around here. Squirt and I had a good time downtown eating bad food and watching the Smurfs. I didn't shop much other than groceries for the week. Yay me!

I have a crazy glittery NOTD to show you. I wanted to swatch all the Klean Color Chunky holos but didn't want to wait and decided to try one on each nail, lol.

The base on all 5 fingers was L'Oreal Resist & Shine #736 Black Turquoise. It looks blue in the bottle but shows up mostly black with a weak sheen of blue, which is a shame.

On the thumb wasn't a Klean Color but an Icing - Epic Winning, gorgeous blue and silver glitters that glow holo in sunlight at certain angles. I'm a big fan.

And the chunkies:
Index: Klean Color Chunky Holo Black
Middle: Klean Color Chunky Holo Purple
Ring: Klean Color Chunky Holo Scarlet
Pinkie: Klean Color Chunky Holo Bluebell.

From a distance, the mani didn't call for much of a hot pot of glitters. Using on top of an almost black base, the chunkies looked quite similar, as their base colours didn't make much of a difference. I do have another mani where the base of the chunky did alter the base colour on the nail, wil show you later.

These shots were taken in the shade, except for the last one. Full blown sun light didn't do the chunkies justice, so I opted for shade pics.

Check out the close up pic below.

Chunky Holo Black (index) set itself apart from the rest, as it has multi shaped and sized glitters in a murky almost black base. Certainly my favorite among all 9 chunkies Klean Color made.

Chunky Holo Purple (middle) and Chunky Holo Bluebell (pinkie) look very similar on the nails. The glitters shine green, orange and red at certain angles. I can't tell them apart on top of this dark base.

Chunky Holo Scarlet (ring) is all red, fierce and pretty.

The sun almost washed the glitters out a little, don't you think? And it also made me hate that the gorgeous blue I see in the bottle did not show up at all on the nails.

All in all, the chunkies are must haves, even when they almost look the same on dark bases because it's a different store when you use a lighter base in the same colour family with the glitter base. Stay tuned for that.

I am tempting another Klean Color order, as there are quite a few more glitters I want to get. Did you get some of this goodness yet?

Happy Monday! :)
