I have another great Canadian brand for you today. Quo is the home brand of Shoppers Drug Mart, they cover quite a wide range of beauty product. Above their cool regular products, their seasonal releases are even more awesome, and I always get sucked in getting something each time, especially with brushes.
This is Quo Bamboo brush set that I hauled one of those 40% off sale days, reg. CAD40. I like the concept of being eco-friendly with sustainable bamboo handles and recycled aluminum ferules. The brush roll is also made from natural jute material. All packed in a non-bleach paper box.
Here are the items out of the box.
The brushes are of good size, and quite light. Dual ended handles save lots of space with packing and travelling, but are not convenient to store outside the brush roll. You have to lay them flat on your vanity or across the top of your brush holder.
The brush roll is a beige colour, I wouldn't suggest to stick the brushes back in the roll after use as they would get the brush roll dirty real quick. So clean brushes only in the roll.
The brushes in the set:
- Powder/ Angled Blush brush
- Concealer/ Spot Concealer brush
- Blending/ Fine Point Liner brush, and
- Angled Brow brush/ Brow spoolie.
They are stored comfortably in the roll and it rolls up quite nicely too. Doesn't take up much space at all, if only these are the only brushes you need to bring with.
The Powder/ Angled Blush brush looks like a big sister in the bunch, simply because it's the biggest.
The bristles are quite soft, no scratchy feeling. The powder brush is slightly tapered at the top, and not intensely dense. I use it more for finishing power after liquid foundation rather than for powder foundation, and it works fine.
For similar reason, I use the angle blush brush to apply powder blush on top of the cream blush I often use on my cheeks. It's also good for highlighting powder and bronzer with precise application. It's denser than the powder brush, which I like.
I quite enjoy the Concealer/ Spot Concealer brush as well, as I do need 2 types of brushes for my concealing work, lol.
The concealer end is quite firm and a little longer than my regular concealer brush, great for cream/ liquid concealers. The spot concealer end is tiny, shorter than I thought but has a good grab (not too hard, not too soft), very useful for blemishes and spots which I have quite a few on my face. It gives better control of product placement and blending than the common concealer brush.
I didn't get much use out of the Blending/ Fine Point Liner brush, as I suck at lining my eyes with anything other than pencils. You probably know that already :)
Don't get me wrong, I like the liner brush. It makes good lines, only if my hand could be steady on the lids. The blending brush end is thin and quite tapered at the top, good for detailed blending on the outer V.
Lastly, the Angled Brow brush/ Brow spoolie. I'm quite a fan :) I have 2 good angled brow brushes (and this is one of them), and they are the reason I hit pan on the brown eyeshadow I use for my brows. And the spoolie does what it's supposed to do - keep the brows in desired shape :)
To summarize, this Bamboo brush set includes some essential brushes in your makeup routine and I'm quite happy with the quality. Gotta give some brownie points to the dual ended design, for travelling purposes. I would pack a foundation brush and an eyeshadow brush with this set, and I'm all set for a trip.

I think I'd like it more if they weren't double ended. I keep mu brushes in cups and these would get smooshed up..(technical term there:)
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting them since you posted about them a few days back. But they never frigging go on sale at my local shoppers and I suspect are now all gone :(
ReplyDeleteC, they serve travelling well :) At home, reg brushes are fine. Love the technical term lol
ReplyDeleteJ, I don't think they are LE, as I still see them at my Shoppers. Hope you can find them
