Annabelle Volumelip review

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

I was kindly sent 2 shades of these Annabelle Volumelip Plumping Gloss for review. If you live in Canada, you probably have seen these cute little colourful tubes on a product display at Shoppers.

Cherryoké is the bright red-ish pink and Sweet Tweet is the baby pink with a hint of shimmer which is very pretty in the tube but does not transfer to my hand (during swatching) or my lips.

They came to me in a clear plastic tube with fun little black beads at the bottom for decoration. Very nice touch, scored extra points in my book :)

The packaging is a squeezable plastic tube, with a slanted soft applicator and clear cap at the top. The cap includes a stopper to avoid spills if you accidentally squeeze the tube when the cap is closed. Very different from the regular lip gloss packaging you have seen everywhere.

I like the applicator a lot. It's gentle but not flimsy on the lips. You can use the applicator to spread the gloss on your lips, or just use your finger or lip brush. Either way works fine.

The top part of the tube can be twisted open between the 2 black circles below the applicator. I assume it was meant for product filling purpose, but when not tightly closed, it comes loose quite easily when I tried to remove the clear cap.

The swatches of the shades on my hand. The glosses are pigmented but meant to be sheer. I did try to do lip swatches for you, but on my pigmented lips, they didn't show up very well. I would use these glosses for layering, as I don't think I could use them alone.

The plumping effect was subtle. The formula doesn't provide the popular tingling sensation that you see in most of plumping gloss, but promotes collagen production, which in turns improves lip volume and softens the lips. I also found the gloss not sticky and very comfortable to wear.

So if you are looking for a hydrating plumping sheer gloss for the summer, this it it. There are 3 other shades - Iced Spice (a sheer brown), Metro Mango (orange) and Vivid Volume (pink), sell for CAD8.50 each. I give Annabelle full credit for fun packaging idea. They are even working on improving the tube to make it easier to squeeze. I'd suggest, while they are at it, print the shade names directly on the tube, then the gloss would be great for all occasions :)
