The final new Physicians Formula product of the week is the famous Mineral Wear Talc-free All-in-one ABC (Airbrushing, Blurring and Correcting) cushion foundation.

If you have not tried a cushion foundation before, it is basically a liquid foundation submerged in a sponge, housed inside a compact with a separate tray holding the puff applicator. A popular trend started in Asia.

This ABC cushion foundation claims to have a lightweight formula with complexion enhancing minerals, soothing plant extracts, smoothing antioxidants and skin nourishing vitamins to correct imperfections, blur fine lines and pores with an airbrushed luminous finish.

Important note: The SPF50 indication is left off the Canadian packaging due to FDA regulation differences but the brand confirmed the formula remains exactly the same.

The gorgeous packaging deserves an A+, but the formula leaves me a bit puzzled.

Said to have light to medium coverage, this foundation performs like a sheer BB cream on me at best, even with a dense foundation brush, while blending not as smoothly as most BB creams, including the #InstaReady BB cream I reviewed yesterday. Because of this, I hardly notice any blurring effects. The finish is natural, but without the coverage, it is not a stand-alone product for me.

Also, after about 2 weeks of use, I noticed less product came on to the brush with normal pressure. I am aware that the compact only holds about half the amount of product in a regular liquid foundation, but with this speed, it might run out too fast.

Shade wise, Light/ Medium in this foundation (left) is a little light on me, again swatched next to L'Oreal True Match Lumi cushion foundation in N3.5 Classic Buff for comparison.

Overall, if you are a collector, get this one for a nice display piece. If you prefer sheer coverage, go for the #InstaReady BB cream linked above. If you need coverage, they are probably both misses.

This foundation is paraben, gluten, fragrance and cruelty free, 0.47oz/ 14ml, regularly $21.50, with $9 rebate. Also available in Light and Medium.

Facts: I cannot get away with just the sheer coverage of a BB cream on the face and I don't do selfies. That, however, did not stop me from grabbing Physicians Formula #InstaReady Super BB cream off the shelf :)

The InstaFilter technology in the formula features a blend of mattifying and pore-balancing spherical particles, color filter pigments and polymers to supposedly blur imperfections and visibly retexturize skin. "Complexion is instantly selfie-ready!", hence the hashtag.

I could confirm the claims of effortless blendability and semi matte lightweight finish but need to stress that this BB cream has thicker texture than what you might be used to. It still blends easily, so don't be alarm when you see how it comes out of the tube.

The blurring/ retexturizing claim, however, not very visible, on my skin at least. I don't normally expect it from a BB cream anyway, so I am fine with that. Unless you have naturally perfect skin, you will not be #InstaReady with this BB cream alone.

The brand suggests to shake the product before each use, but I normally forget to do this and it performs fine so far :) The skin is evened out, good for a casual no-makeup day, or it is ready for concealer for a work day. Setting powder is optional with this finish.

I chose the Light/ Medium shade, which matches my skin tone perfectly (seen below across the bottom), in comparison to the brand's ABC cushion foundation in Light/ Medium (left, review tomorrow) and L'Oreal True Match Lumi cushion foundation in N3.5 Classic Buff (right).

The BB cream is paraben/ gluten/ fragrance and cruelty free. The tube is 1.2oz/ 35ml, $20. Also available in Light, no chance for darker skin tones unfortunately.

Another new item in Physicians Formula's Eye Booster line is the Instant Doll Lash Extension kit in Ultra Black.

Being the updated version of the Instant Lash Extension kit released last year, which I missed, the Doll Lash version promises more volume - 24-hour doll-like long, lifted & defined lashes.

The kit includes a Lash Boosting mascara and a Lash Extensions (fiber) tube for a 3-step process similar to that of Too Faced Better than False Lashes Extreme.

Let's take a close look to the wands in both tubes.

The mascara (0.20oz/ 5.8g) has a normal tapered brush, except for that little arrow pointed tip which I assume to touch up the lower lashes vertically but I don't find it necessary.

It does the job as prepping the lashes for the fibers and sealing them in afterward, but I am not sure if it has any boosting effects specifically.

A problem I have with this mascara is the amount of product left at the neck of the tube once the wand is pulled out. It is messy! The Extensions tube (0.01oz/ 0.3g) also requires some patience :)

"Stray extensions" (the brand's words) are almost unavoidable when you pull the wand out of the tube (see the dust on the background in the pic), so be careful not to get them on your clothes.

Not on your eyeballs either, as a matter of fact. The brand suggests to tap the brush to release excess product before brushing it on the lashes (when the mascara is still wet), but you already know the risk of some fibers land inside your eyes and create discomfort.

Out of the multiple times I tested this kit, I had fibers on my cornea twice, which involved a lot of blinking through the day until I could wash my face (and eyes). If you haven't tried a fiber extension system, give it a go, as long as you know its cons :)

The kit is paraben/ gluten and cruelty free, reg. $21.50, also with a $9 rebate.

Weeks ago, Physicians Formula was 40% off at Shoppers and I took the opportunity to grab a few of their new Spring 2016 products.

Being a drugstore brand, Physicians Formula has gone pretty pricy, I realized. Make sure to catch a big sale and use those $9 rebate stickers on the packaging to save.

Physicians Formula week starts today with the Eye Booster 4-in-1 Brow Boosting kit in Universal Brown.

I have gone super curious about brow products recently, obviously could not pass up on this convenient kit.

Held inside the plastic box are 2 items for a complete brow routine:
- The pencil has one end to shape and fill, and the other end to highlight
- The metal tube houses a lightweight tinted gel to set the brow, and the double-sided brush/ comb at the top to groom.

I enjoy this short and small brush. It deposits the good amount of gel and also helps with keeping the brow hair in the desired direction.

The gel does not dry hard so the brow looks more natural, but I find the tint is still a little light for my hair colour, so the fill-in step with the pencil is still necessary.

The proper order for the kit:
- Use the brush and comb to brush brow hair into place
- Apply highlighter under brow following the arch, blend. Can also add highlighter above the arch and blend for an instant brow lift.

- Fill in sparse areas with brow pencil with short, feathery strokes in the same direction of brow hair growth
- Brush brow gel onto brows in light, upward strokes to set.

The pencil in the kit is chubby, slightly smaller than Annabelle Brow Show brow liner + highlighter (0.06oz/ 1.8g vs. 0.07oz/ 2.21g). My brows needs quite a bit of filling so the darker end of the pencil wears out faster than the highlight end.

The highlighter feels more creamy than the pencil, which is normal. I swatched them next to the 2 ends of Annabelle Brow Show (right). Very similar, with the highlighter being slightly more pink. They hold the brows through the day, I am happy.

The gel tube has 0.23oz/ 6.5g, almost twice the amount in Essence Make Me Brow (0.12oz/ 3.8ml, $3.99), so the $21.50 price tag makes sense. 40% off + $9 rebate on top of that make an irresistible deal :)

The product is fragrance/ paraben/ gluten and cruelty free, safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

This post is to prove how much Canada has been missing out in the beauty world. My CP package from the US arrived couple days ago. Awesome products, and we were able to pair up some godo sales too.

First off, Wet n Wild. The Maritimes is lucky to have Lawtons who carries the brand but not all LE collections make it up North.

Here are two of the latest trios they released in the Tough Girl collection - I Don't Do Camouflage and Enlisting for Beauty.

At this point, I am not sure Canada will get this collection as the last collection I saw was the Pop Art Craze.

Since these were on sale for $2 each, I did not want to miss the chance. Temptalia hasn't been giving the Pop Art Craze very good grades, I hope these are better.

Similarly, with Physicians Formula, certain products seem to be either not available here at all or out of stock all the time, as I couldn't find them anywhere.

When these were on BOGO plus +UP reward, I couldn't help myself:
- Matte eyeshadow quads in Canyon  Classics and Classic Nudes, $7.25 each reg.
- Shimmer Strips eyeliner trios in Warm Nude Eyes and Hazel Eyes (the later shade is available in Canada, I think), $11.95 each.

Notice a trend so far? I've been into matte and neutral eyeshadows lately, almost feel like I need to collect all the matte neutrals or something lol. I heard these are good ones.

These Milani rose blushes are LE and Canada won't be getting them, which made me want them even more.

I got Warm Petals and Romantic Rose, retail $9.49 a piece, also on Extra Bucks promo at the time.

Reviews on YT have been mixed though, some raved about them, some said they weren't anything special.

This Maybelline Dream Sun bronzing face illuminator ($9.49) was a LE product quite a while ago. I almost had no expectation of my friend being able to find it but she did. Feels like I own a piece of "history" lol.

Also from Maybelline are the LE Color Sensational lipsticks in Lavender Voltage and Violet Intrigue, reg. $7.99 on BOGO1/2.

The On the Runway collection hasn't showed up in Canada, I don't think. Maybelline Canada did mention the Color Show Vintage Leather will arrive soon though, so let's hope for the rest.

One of the latest raves in the drugstore range is Jordana's new products. The brand is not available in Canada, so no chance of me getting anything.

My friend got me the Twist and Shine moisturizing balm stains in Cranberry Crush, Sweet Pink and Honey Love ($2.99 each), and a 12hr Made to Last eyeshadow pencil in Eternal White, $3.99.

I could have asked for the whole line at this kind of price, but I tried to be good there :)

Same availability situation with Jordana is Flower Beauty. I told myself that I only wanted to try their cream eyeshadows and asked for 4 (4, $7.98 each).

First row: Orchid-ing Around, Midnight Garden.

Second row: Awesome Blossom and Time Willow Tell.

I haven't swatched them, but first impression, these have bulkier packaging which will take up more space in storage. I might look pass that if the quality is good :)

The biggest rave of them all recently is the L'Oreal (LE) La Lacque lip colours.

As I mentioned before on this blog, L'Oreal Canada confirmed that we won't get these, and they were not very easy to find in the US either.

My friend found Lacquer-ized, Never Lacque-ing and Lacque-onic for me, and even better, they were on sale, with +UP reward promo.

I am super happy to finally own these, almost want to ask for backups now. We might have better luck with the Revlon ColorBurst lacquer balms and matte balms as they are permanent, with wider colour range. The matter is when :)

Only a few nail polish from Salon Perfect, $3.98 each. Canada does get some the brand's core shades but none of the special releases. So unfair, as their permanent colours are boring, I have to say.

I got:
- Zapped, Jolt and Kaboom from the Summer collection
- Ivy League, Cafe Ole, Red Dahlia (dupe of the famous Chanel Malice) and Raisin the Roof from the Fall collection.

There are certainly many more products and brands that I wanted from the US, but I stopped there, for now :) I hope I don't make my fellow Canadian readers feel too bad. We certainly have some good Canadian brands here who start opening their doors to (at least) the US market - Annabelle/ Marcelle, Lise Watier, as examples. Why can't US brands do the same eh?

A quick post today to let you know some awesome deals I found in the weekend. While doing my Winners check, just in case another Cargo Mediterranean set shows up, I found ...

... Nubar Polka Dots (reg. 24, on sale for $20 on Nubar website vs. $17 at Winners), I was so excited.

Not a huge saving but I have wanted all 3 bottles for a while - White Polka Dot, Black Polka Dot, and Diamont top coat.

A few Korres products showed up on the shelf too. This must be "Boxing Month" at Winners, they have brought in so many new brands.

I got the Antioxidant Sunflower and Hydrating Evening Primrose Eyeshadow quad - Cool Collection (reg. $35, Winners' price $9). Each shade - Silver, White, Plum and Purple - has its own lid, supposed to be long wearing and creaseless.

Also found a Korres Lip butter in Plum (reg. $12, I paid $4). There seems to be only one shade available.

Macadamia Natural Oil hair care products were at Winners for a long time but this Discover the Secrets of Healthy Hair gift set was on clearance for $36 (retails $99, Winners' original price: $70). I didn't pass it up:
- Rejuvenating Shampoo 300ml (reg. $21)
- Moisturizing Rinse 60ml ($6)
- Healing Oil Treatment 125ml ($39.95)
- Deep Repair Masque 250ml ($33)
- Healing Oil Spray 60ml (%14.50)

Looks like the Healing Oil treatment is the most expensive by itself, already costs more than what I paid for the whole set. I'm happy.

There are some Smashbox from the Untamed collection (lip glosses, eyeliners, etc.), if you are a fan of the brand. Check out your Winners, you never know what you can find.

I have no idea where time went lately. Every morning I woke up, I kept asking myself what day it was and whether I had to go to work. Crazy stage of my life, I think.

This is an over-due post, as I got these items way back at Christmas. They were CP'ed for me by the bf at US drugstores. Every time they had a good sale, I asked him to get a few things. And he ended up putting them in a gift box for me at Christmas, didn't want me to pay him back :)

First batch, from Ulta sale:
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Rocky Mountain Green, Electric Blue and Gold. I was looking for the 4 new ones that came out last summer, but the store didn't have Purple Velvet and Pure Gold.
- Physician's Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiner for Green Eyes. There is quite a mark-up for this item in Canada, I didn't want to buy it here.
- LA Splash nail polish, from L-R: Sparkling Rose, Sparkling Jellyfish, Golden Seahorse, Pretty Jellyfish and Terra Beach.

LA Splash has recently arrived at Lawtons, but the nail polish are CAD4.99 here (I think), so US sale still beats it.

Can't remember which store exactly this is from, but it gotta be a BOGO or BOGO 1/2 sale.
- Milani Liquif' Eye Metallic Eyeliner pencil in Silver. One of the best sellers from Milani, so I gotta get one.
- Milani Lip Flash gloss pencils in Hot Flash and Photo Flash. Lots of raves for these as well, review is coming.
- Milani Gems nail polish. This shade was certainly the most wanted, but I kinda regret I didn't ask for other shades from this collection too, as they are all fabulous. I wore Gems for New Years Eve, feeling all bling-y :)

More nail polish:
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Purple Fiesta and Concrete
- Sally Hansen Complete Salon in Problem Child and Sequin Scandal.

These aren't new or anything, but they were 50% off :) My Melmer drawer for Sally Hansen is overflowing, just because it has so many lines, and keeps coming out with new shades. Xtreme Wear and Complete Salon are the most popular among all Sally Hansen in my stash.

- Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in Coral Reef. I finally got a hold of this shade (for cheap), as it was a LE colour in Canada up until recently when it was released with a new collection.
- Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick in Red Velvet and Wine Room. Heard quite a lot about these lipsticks, and they were BOGO. What not to love?
- L'Oreal HIP shadow pigment in Intrepid. Can't remember exactly now but I think this was the only item I got at CVS 75% off sale. It is the most beautiful duochrome shade among the HIP pigments, IMO.

As I tried to put the stuff away after Christmas, I went into quite a withdrawal, seeing how much makeup I have. Have been "enforcing" a low buy on myself since. My defense is I got them on sale, but still I need to downsize, right?

These EOS lip balms, however, are must-haves. As I was frustrated not being able to find them around here, there was a promo where you technically could get them for free in the US. The bf found Lemon Drop (SPF15) and Summer Fruit for me.

Very recently, I saw the Honeysuckle (green) ones at my Shoppers, sold for CAD5.99 though. Only if you are still looking for them.

Hope everyone is doing well. Today is the second day with freezing temperature we have here. We are talking -30 degrees (for those in the US, it's -22 Fahrenheit). And we are right next to the ocean, so the wind is just killing my face, on top of that. Now that is Canadian winter for you :)

Last weekend was totally fun for shopping. I managed to restrain myself despite the good sales.

From Superstore's tax-free event, I got:
- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Blue Streak (CAD2.94). Certain shades of Insta-Dri were on clearance, don't know why.
- Joe Butter, Mint and Ink polish (3 for CAD10). They are very tiny, as expected. Stocks weren't that great, and I couldn't find Peacock. That Mint bottle was the last one on the shelf too.
- L'Oreal Color of Hope polish (on clearance for CAD1.27).

We are up for a 2% increase in tax pretty soon, so tax-free days would be greatly appreciated. Love Superstore!

Lawtons has BOGO deals starting Saturday, so I got a few things. The stuff rung in 50% off, so I didn't have to buy 2 items to get the deal.

- Physicians Formula Organic Wear mascara in Ultra Black Organics (CAD7.89). The packaging was cute, and it was a bonus pack (2 for 1), so it was cheap.
- Sinful Colors Rich in Heart and Daddy's Girl polish (CAD1.99 each). Lawtons only has the regular shades, no LE collections, so I'm still missing out on new shades.
- Milani Totally Cool and Pink Out Loud polish CAD2.49 each). Totally Cool is probably the most popular shade from Milani regular line, I couldn't miss it. Pink Out Loud is supposed to be a dupe of China Glaze Strawberry Field, so I was curious.
- Milani Lip Mixer in Lip Party and Lip Fuse (CAD3.49 a piece).
- Milani Perfect Red Lipstick (CAD2.99).

I did well, didn't I? Didn't break the bank on this haul :-) I'm saving up for the LA trip, we'll see how that goes, lol.

So I posted about this Physician Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo in a Shoppers Weekend finds at the beginning of the month. I was intrigued by its promise of volumizing and lengthening plus ultra-dramatic & glamorous lashes.

First, let's see what the mascara looks like.

The description: As the name suggested, it's a dual ended mascara with black in the longer end and purple (I chose the duo for brown eyes) in the shorter end. I think it's great because black obviously would be used more often than purple, together or separately.

Theoretically, black would lengthens and volumizes, and purple adds the dramatic effect when needed.

The mascara is a little longer than normal, and the tube is square, so you gotta wrap your hand around it to have a good grip.

The brush: it's big and hard, sadly. With my small eyes and straight lashes, it hurts when I bring the brush close to my eyes. For that reason, I might not have an even and thorough application with this brush.

It might be just me, as I am spoiled with gentle and small mascara brushes. In the picture, for comparison purpose, are the brushes from L'Oreal Voluminous (in the middle) and Marcelle Lash Extreme (at the bottom) - the 2 mascaras that I use most often.

Now let's see the mascara in action.

The effect: I used both ends in these 2 looks, and similarly, it didn't do much to my naturally straight lashes. They might look a bit fuller, probably thanks to the fact that I used 3 coats (2 coats of black, one coat of purple).

Note that these are close up pics, so the lashes might look long on there, but trust me, they are not.

Extra proof: closed-eye pics. The lashes remained the same - sad, straight and short.





Summary:
Pros:
- Convenient packaging, 2 mascaras in 1 tube
- The coloured end is customized to different eye colours
- Hypoallergenic, fragrance/ paraben free and safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers (straight from the website)
- Free with full price rebate (limited time offer).

Cons:
- Hard and large brush which is not easy on small eyes
- No lengthening effect proved
- The colour mascara isn't that visible on the lashes
- Not cheap (CAD16.99, if you have to pay full price).


So it was nice to try out a new product, but it did not work for me this time. If any of you have bought this mascara, I'd love to know what you think of it, as it might work differently with different lash conditions.

It has been a great sunny weekend around here. It has been quite a long time we got to see the sun, so it is exciting.

I also have a few fun finds (good buys) around town that I think I should tell you about :-)

Superstore has the whole Aveeno Positively Ageless line on for half price this week. The Daily Moisturizer SPF30 Lift & Firming is reduced from CAD24.99 to CAD12.49. Accidentally, the Coupon Board (near the front of the store when you walk in) has the $5 coupon for any Aveeno moistuzier, so I ended up paying only CAD7.49. So check your coupon board.

Walmart has Cover Girl Smoky Shadowblast for CAD6.97, about $2 off from regular price. Plus, P&G Brandsaver has a coupon for buy 2 get $3 off any Cover Girl products, so they came out to be CAD5.47 each. I got Citrus Flair (green and bronze) and Silver Sky (grey and purple). I think they are fun to use, but don't know how well they work yet.

And the Physician Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo just came out at Shoppers. The one I got is for brown eyes, it has a regular black colour in one end and purple on the other end for "enhancing" effect.

I paid CAD16.99, not the cheapest price. I'm sure it'll come out to Walmart and other stores with better price. The thing is the mascara comes with a Full Price Rebate pink sticker right on the packaging, which means you get it for free after rebate.

It's not the first time that mascaras come in colours, but I'm curious about the dual end and how purple would look on my lashes, so I'm giving it a try (for free) :-)

I am spending the day sorting out my nail polish stash, so hoping there'll be a collection post coming up :-) I also have a Shoppers haul from the x20 point event yesterday. Have a great day, everyone!

Last weekend, I was at Shoppers for some Annabelle. Couldn't miss the deal.

Unfortunately, my Shoppers only carried the 12 basic colours of the mono shadows, not the later-released ones that were more fun and bright. So I got 4, worked out to be CAD1 each with coupons - and earned the free compact, of course.

I found out when I came home that I already have the first 2 colours, lol. Will have to try another Shoppers to see whether I could exchange them for the bright ones.

In the middle is Quo Diamonds and Ice palette from the holiday line. It was my lucky find, as last time I was there, no palettes were left. The lady said she found some in the drawer and put them out. I snagged the last one for CAD7 (same deal 75% off), a steal huh? :-)

The studded case carries the same festive look as other products in the line. And there's also a paper sleeve with red/ pink pattern.

A close up of the palette shows the top tray with 12 shadows, 3 blushes and 2 pressed powders. The colours are definitely for spring, quite toned down and neutral. The bottom tray is a pull out and has 12 glosses, a tiny puff and brushes/ applicators. The colours are a bit stronger, maybe just right to pair with neutral eye looks :-)

The only thing I miss in the holiday collection is still the brush set :-)

Zellers was having some clearance items in the cosmetics section. I was interested in some Physician Formula, but this Multi-Reflective Face Powder was the only thing left with a yellow tag, on sale from CAD17.87 to CAD4.49 - similar price point with the items I got from Winners.

The label that said "Virtual face powder" reflects the flash into a palette of rainbow colours. Pretty huh?

The shade is Highlighter, a pale baby pink colour. I would probably use this as a cheek highlight. It comes with a built-in mirror and brush too.

A dear reader, moonRabbit, mentioned in my previous post that her Zellers (in Ontario) is having all elf sets on sale for 50% off. If you are in the area, check it out. My Zellers still doesn't have any elf yet.

Here's the weekend haul that I briefly mentioned in one of the previous posts. The purpose again is not to brag but to let you know what's on sale out there, in case you are looking for the same things.

Winners was a bit quiet recently, as I didn't see many new beauty products on the shelves.

I found some Physician Formula products which normally are in the range of $15 or more.
- Plumping Lip Gloss palette in Mauves, CAD4.99
- Cream-to-Powder Cheek palette in Rose, CAD4.99
- Multi-colored Eyebrightener in Hint of Bronze, CAD4.99
- Pearls of Perfection blush in Blushing Nude, CAD6.99.
Not bad prices huh?

There were a few other items too, but I opted for these, as they all had some kinda special effect, not just the ordinary. Especially the pearls, reminded me of a more expensive version which you guys all know about :-) If it works just as well, and lower price tag, I'm in.














I found more Goldies's, lol, a better deal than the previous packages. The old ones had 3 bottles, sold for CAD5.99, and these new ones had 8 bottles (same size) at CAD9.99. The second picture is of the same 2 sets, just to show you the colours on the back side. Some of the bottles lost the little white bows which I don't understand, as the boxes were sealed. Hmm...

At Claire's, I found Chunky Gold at the "10 for $10" corner. That was a big surprise, as the "Chunky" collection was just released not so long ago. Other chunky ones were still full price though. I'll keep an eye on them, lol.

The rest, from L-R: Yellow Brick Road, Emerald City, Under the Sea and Red Slippers. These are famous polish shades from Claire's based on what I saw on nail blogs, I don't know why they ended up in clearance for CAD1. Well, my wallet was sure happy.


Other miscellaneous stuff in the "10 for $10" loot:
- Footed tights, love the prints. They weren't winter-thick, so I'll have to wait till it's warmer to wear them.
- Bath fizzies, different colours and shapes, for Squirt
- Body Shimmer with a built-in brush. I didn't have much expectation on this one, but thought it was fun to play around with.
- Snowflake earrings. The earring shelves were a little sad, I only found one pair that I liked.

Oh, did you know that you don't have to purchase a multiple amount of 10's with this deal? So many times I shopped at the "10 for $10" corner, I had to count the items to see whether I was at 10's or had to make to 20's. The staff told me any items (from that corner of course) after the 10th's one is CAD1. Duh! That would make things a lot easier, wish I knew that before, lol.
