It was the best weekend Halifax has ever had this year, supper warm and sunny, finally in June :) I felt good not having to complain about the weather anymore.
You might remember I had Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting primer in #0 Neutral from the Complexion starter kit. Joining the trend of colour correcting products, #2 Mauve would be interesting to test out.
First, it is a light and oil free "skin perfector" that improves the skin's appearance and primes it for makeup application.
Like the HD foundation, this primer also helps to create a soft focus effect, with Silica micro beads to act as minuscule light refractors.
With Argatensyl (extracted from Argan seeds), the primer claims to smooth out the skin, minimize lines and pores. Silicone rubber and Phycosaccharide give a soft velvety finish for even makeup and long lasting hold.
My experience with #0 Neutral was great, it being a primer as my foundation went on smoothly and last through the day. However, it did not find it as a good "pore blurrer".
Now #2 Mauve is to neutralize strong olive undertones, illuminate muddy complexions/ counteracts sallow undertones. It does work on me, for this purpose, but subtle.
Being Asian, olive undertone is my case. I reach for this primer because it definitely needs help looking more vibrant and "alive". I guess we all do :)
Here is a quick swatch of #2 (in comparison with #0) so you can see its baby blue/ pale lilac tone (which does not appear to be a mauve colour, just to clarify).
I would say if you want to balance out your olive skin tone, #2 Mauve would be something to consider. If not, #0 works just fine. Note that the primer does have a scent.
The pump bottle has 1oz/ 30ml, retails $39.
