Weekend haul

Posted by Halifax @ Sparkled Beauty

Another Monday, at least we have nice weather. It was a crazy weekend, I found some good stuff, including the shoes at the Bay clearance sale. Before getting to the haul, just want to remind you guys about the Annabelle Best of Black collection giveaway, if you haven't entered already.

Alright, let's get started.

Yes, it is the magic of Lawtons' orange clearance tags again :) The Revlon Sweetly Seductive scented nail polish collection was on clearance for CAD1.62 a piece. I ran around town trying to find all 8 shades. This little bunch here wasn't from one store location, as a result.

First row, from L-R: Grape Fizz, Mint Fizz, Colada Fizz and Apple-tini Fizz.

Second row: Watermelon Fizz, Grapefruit Fizz, Orange Fizz and Pineapple Fizz.

I was gonna pass on this collection as the shades are quite sheer, but with this price, I collected them all.

The first two items are from the clearance corner at Shoppers:
- CoverFx Mineral Powder foundation in M50, CAD15.99 and
- Sally Hansen Natural Beauty by Carmindy Natural highlighter in Pink Luster, CAD6.99.

Also grabbed some items I wanted when they happened to be on sale, CAD6.99 each, with $2 off coupons:
- Maybelline Color Explosion eyeshadow in Caffeine Rush and
- Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Fifth Ave. Fuchsia.

More clearance items:
- Spectro Jel cleanser for Blemish-prone skin with bonus Daily Facial moisturizer, only CAD8.99. I'm not sure what the regular price is, have never tried the brand either. The SA said it was pretty good, and I wouldn't mind paying this price for 2 items.

- Olay Definity Deep Penetrating Foaming moisturizer, being cleared out for CAD5.99 (reg. around CAD35). I wasn't planning any skin care purchases, it just happened :)

With my purchase, I was able to draw a prize at the cosmetic counter and won some stuff:
- Black Zippo travel bag
- Gold Lady Million mini purse
- Vichy NutriExtra cream (Replenishing Nourishing Body care) and
- Vichy Thermal Spa water.

I always try to pay at the cosmetic cashier if I find the SA is friendly and helpful. The extra gifts/ lucky draws aren't available at all stores but are a nice touch for people who go to the makeup isle way too often, like me :)

I found Clarins items at Winners, quite a surprise. What I got are either quite unique or have good reviews on blogs. All products have traditional red Clarins packaging, and the compacts come in velvet red pouches with magnetic closure, pretty luxurious.

From L-R:
- Colour Quench lip balm in 03 Rose Pink, CAD6.99 ($20 on Clarins US website)
- Instant Smooth Compact highlighter in 01 Natural, CAD12.99 (compared to $32 regularly)
- Nude Inspiration Face & Blush duo compact, CAD16.99. Looks like this compact is part of the Nude Inspiration collection Fall/ Winter 2009. All the press releases I came across seemed to come from Asia, I'm not sure it was even available in North America then.

Close up on the Face & Blush duo, as it is a work of art.
This is the blush on the bottom tray, beautiful shade with awesome gold pattern on top. Can't say it's an over-spray or goes all the way down, and don't know if I would dare to bring my brush to the surface of this product. Anybody owns this?

And the face highlighter on the top tray. Magnificent!

I love the duo compact, convenient to travel. The red case and red velvet pouch are an awesome touch.

There were some Clarins lipsticks on the shelf too, but I wasn't drawn to them. I'm happy with what I got.

And lastly, a heads up for my Canadian ladies. The Revlon Expressionists by Gucci Westman display has arrived at my Lawtons (and also at Rexall, I heard).

I was surprised to find that we have a different selection of products on this display from the one in the US. There isn't any ColorStay Ultimate liquid lipsticks, and there are only 2 of the Diamond Lust Eyeshadows to choose from.

BUT we have one extra nail polish shade - and it is Carbonite, the famous Chanel Graphite dupe! There are 6 slots each for Facets of Fuchsia, Blue Mosaic and Smoky Canvas and 4 slots each for Carbonite and Starry Pink. Shop up as the display won't remain this full for long :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

  2. Great Haul! the revlon polishes are quite haul but i've heard that if you apply a white polish first then the revlon colour it comes out quite opaque haven't tried it yet though

  3. Ohh, excited about the new Revlon display. I picked up the same polishes as you for $1.60 2 weeks ago at a Revlon/Johnson & Johnson sale in my area. They had the whole collection, that was a very pleasant surprise. The green one over black or a blackened emerald looks awesome :)

  4. I found the same Revlon display at Zellers last week in Ontario but I haven't seen it at Rexall. Very surprised as well and happy to see Carbonite in it. Great deal on the scented Revlons! We need Lawtons in Ontario!

  5. Oh man I want graphite badly, been checking sdm/rexall like a crazy person for the past few weeks. nice to see we are getting them, no lawtons around me though.

  7. Nice haul you got there! I haven't been shopping for the past week or so.

I also picked up the Spectro gel (blemish prone non fragranced)at Walmart in the duel pack. The 500ml bottle is about $11-14 and the moisturizer is about the same price, maybe a dollar or two cheaper. Anyways, Spectro is known for making gentle, non-irritating skin care products.

Unfortunately, the moisturizer broke me out. Can you maybe do a post in the future about how you got on with it?

  8. Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm happy that you are as excited as I was :)

Abby, like Danielle said, Toronto has Revlon warehouse sale where you can find these np just as cheap. Check it out

Janella, yes, white np is known for helping the opacity of sheer shades. I've been using these Fizzes as top coats :)

Danielle, if I had known about the sale, I'd ask my friend to go grab them all, saving me the running around :) Thanks for letting me know

Queen of crap, my Zellers hasn't had new displays for a while, but it's good to know that the display will make it there

J and Leanne, good luck on hunting down Carbonite

Ally, ohh so I did get a good deal out of the pack I bought. It would suck if the moisturizer breaks me out too, as I already have enough acne to worry about. Maybe I'll start with the cleanser first, will def let you know how it goes.

  10. Yeah, I was surprised seeing a different display of this collection. As long as we have those pretty nail polish, I won't complain about not having the lip products :)

  11. I've got the green Revlon polish but was really disapointed =( I needed at least 3 to 4 coats to make it look bright ! And I couldnt smell anything special once it was dry. I hope it works better for you !!

  12. Vee, did you mean the Fizz? I'd use it as a layering/ top coat instead of by itself. They are known to be sheer
